Nintendo has announced that the next big, much-anticipated 3DS system update will become available the evening of June 6th in North America (June 7th in Japan). They have confirmed that the update will include the eShop and web browser. I’m sure many 3DS owners are hoping that the eShop’s launch will include a free download of Excitebike 3D and Flipnote Studio. Hooray, 3DS takes a step...
A lot of “classic” games haven’t aged well. Sure, some have nostalgia, but they also rely on outdated gameplay. Super Mario Land 2 isn’t one of the games. On the contrary, it’s downright delightful, on par with what you would expect from a high-profile console version of Mario. And since it was produced by ...
Capcom has let us in on when we can expect our first taste of Resident Evil on the 3DS. On June 28 Resident Evil: The Mercenaries 3D will hit store shelves everywhere. The only question I have is whether anyone will be willing to shell out $40+ for what were essentially mini games in Resident Evil 4 and 5. Extra corny teaser trailer with a side of cheese is included after the break.
With exception to a few cosmetic blemishes, the thing looks almost as flawless as it plays. Certainly more convincing than the PolyStation.

Remember Cammie Dunaway, former executive vice president of sales & marketing for Nintendo of America? Well she no longer works for Nintendo, she left October 1st of last year. Who is going to take her place?
Do so now! Seriously, it’s a lot of fun. My favorite feature of Nintendo 3DS Sound is the ability to switch among several unique visualizations. (Helpful hint: some of these visualizations can be played.) There is also a control panel that allows you to manipulate the music by altering speed and pitch. Don’t expect the 3DS to replace your iPod, but this is definitely worth checking out...

North American owners of Nintendogs + cats got a Spotpass notice on their devices yesterday, telling them that the 26th President of the United States had dropped by for a visit, bringing along his bull terrier, Pete. The notification included a bit of historical background about the dog’s infamous reputation (he was accused of ripping the pants off a french ambassador.) Now, this is fun. If...
On a recent trip to Germany, I was super-excited to pull out my 3DS and notice that I had made new friends during my trip. Nintendogs+Cats was even blinking, indicating a new pet owner and his canine pal would be ready for my dog Fleischwurst to play with. Low and behold, I had StreetPass’d with two German fellas; shortly after they would battle a couple of ghosts for me in Save Mii. I love ...
So the entire Internet has been buzzing about Nintendo and their new console, but for some reason it’s hard to be excited about it. Right now with Wii, I haven’t had anything to play since Donkey Kong, and the rest of 2011 is looking bleak. I don’t think I will be stopping in for coffee at Nintendo’s next café, and here’s why.
