Nintendo Wii beats Microsoft Natal to camera-based motion controls for current gen consoles

Jenny McCarthy and Ubisoft help remind us that camera-based gaming is already here with the new Your Shape fitness title that’s out this week.  It’s interesting to note that this is a rudimentary form of what Natal is expected to deliver.  Then again, PS2 had the EyeToy and I even had an Intel webcam back in 1999 that had the same basic functionality, nearly the same time Jenny was j...

Deep simplistic thoughts

The perfect Zelda game would have almost no story, very little dialog, and would start you in an area with very little explanation or direction. Presented with four directions to go in, you would literally be in charge of Link’s destiny, for better of worse. None of those directions would feature extraneous, pace-slowing cutscenes. You would begin this simplistic quest without a sword.

Video games are unstoppable

Now, you could make fun of the new partnership between Nintendo and sports retailer Sports Authority, but by doing so you’d be completely missing the point. Best just keep that ignorance quiet for now.

DSi LL Japan Launch Coverage

The newest iteration of Nintendo’s dual-screen juggernaut launched in Japan over the weekend, and Infendo was at Akihabara’s Yodobashi Camera early to chat up the crowd that had lined up to be among the first to get the DSi LL. The vibe of the crowd was generally energetic and the line of buyers kept growing well after we ha...

New Game Get burns up your broadband with Bit.Trip Void and Super Mario Kart

Although it probably won’t be as popular as WiiFit or EA Sports Active, the most interesting release this week is Your Shape featuring Jenny McCarthy. It introduces a motion tracking camera to the Wii’s arsenal of peripherals, something we haven’t seen from on the Wii yet. Otherwise, the release list this week is fairly sparse. Your internets, however, will be burning up while yo...

Do you take this DS, in low-battery and in health…

Last week we reported on Konami’s “Love Plus:” the reputedly addictive new DS dating-sim from Japan. While a hit dating-sim is nothing new to the creators of the notorious “Tokimeki Memorial” series, fandom reached a new level recently when an Japanese man known only as SAL9000 married in-game character Nene Anegasaki during a trip to Guam. While the legal background o...

Poll – favorite Mario game for Wii

New Super Mario Bros Wii has been marketed as a return of the classic Mario console series, but it isn’t the first adventure our moustachioed plumber has experienced on Wii.  This week, we want to know: {democracy:103}

Miyamoto talks about 3D and 2D Games

In a recent issue of Nintendo Power Miyamoto was asked about his feelings on 3D games in the industry. He responded with this… “I don’t think everything needs to be 3D, or that just because we’re seeing more 2D games now, that everything’s going to shift back to 2D. I think that what’s going on is that people are realizing the benefits of a 3D game, and at the s...

What are you playing this weekend?

Eiji Aonuma, Altering the Traditional flow of Zelda

“We’re making efforts regarding the total flow of the Zelda game. So far, the basic flow of the Zelda games is you’re exploring a field, you go to a dungeon, you conquer it and return to the field. We’re looking at altering that traditional flow. That’s all I can share, and I can’t say more until E3 next year.” – Eiji Aonuma All I can say is… I like where...

Sweet sounding, slick looking Zelda knock-off that you won’t be able to play on Nintendo

Do me a favor and watch the above trailer. Done? Good. Now don’t you wish that was coming to the platform in which it pays homage to? If that music alone doesn’t make you salivate, maybe the official game description will: “Retro chic meets modern sleek in this, the ultimate love letter to retro gamers. Seamlessly fusi...
