What’s your favorite game-specific forum?

1112028_wag_555s_dirty_mone.jpgThe following is a paid review: ZeldaGamers.com offered filthy lucre to the Infendo overlords in exchange for a name drop, link love, and review of their Zelda forum. This is a first for Infendo; consider it a pilot for now, provided there’s no reader or internal backlash. We welcome your feedback on this advertorial in the comments.

First, a quick rundown of what Zelda Gamers appears to be: A clean-looking Zelda forum that obviously ganked its aesthetic from Zelda.com proper, including the background image. The site currently boasts 3,472 members (hopefully most are humans, not Daft Punk robots) and doesn’t have any running ads at the moment, unlike our ugly (but smart!) forums. In addition to general discussion and Zelda specific message boards, a video game section is also present. Zelda Gamers is currently the second most popular Zelda message board, according to Google.

On that note, I thought I’d ask: What’s your favorite game-specific website, if any? I currently don’t affiliate with any franchise-specific community, opting instead for the much larger scope but focused discussion on sites like Infendo, GamePro, Crispy Gamer, Kotaku, and Evil Avatar. I’ve come across several game-specific forums during my time on the internets but have never joined. You?

I’m on over on Gameinformer’s site just for the forums, I don’t read their news, I hat their set-up. I use IGN for their news, but I don’t like their forums. Then I just go to many other places like N-Coming and Infendo because of the community.

I can’t stand forums that are always at a constant war of stupidity. They’ll down systems and games only because it;s not what they have.

    Probably wowinsider.com….oh…wait……uh…I mean theinstance.net…yeah, that’s the ticket.

Game-specific? It would have to be either Animal Crossing Ahead (http://www.animalxing.com/acds.php) or Lacrima Castle (http://www.leyviur.net/index.php?sec=gateway), the Riviera / Yggdra Union fan site.

But I’m not sure they have forums in there… I just use them for inside info.

I like Sonic World. Err… Used to like Sonic world. There’s been little activity there since it became part of the D-padnetwork but it was a hoot back in its hayday.

I don’t really spend any time in forums. I get most of my game news and whatnot through infendo, 4cr, kotaku, the escapist, and tigsource.

I used to go on GameFAQs a lot but I’ve been warned and almost banned for posting joke topics because apparently anything funny to the mods is grounds for perma-ban. I guess the boards are serious business for the mods.

I don’t really have any gaming specific forums though… I like to comment on Joystiq since people are pretty intelligent there. I’d say going on /v/ is fun too, since you have more freedom.
