the wii has already pushed away some gamers who perceive it as a casual game machine, including me. I was going to buy a wii for TP alone, but then realized I didn't know what I'd do with it after that.

On the aggregate, the wii's games lack the depth available on other platforms. Combine that with the lack of online support, and my choice becomes the 360 or pc.

So far its been all for the nongamers sense launch , but i see it this way ,Nintendo needed to do it this way to intruduce the Wii , that way nongamers or oldschool gamers that used to play video games start getting familiar with the Wii and the controller, with games like Wiisports or Wiiplay and games like Wario ware and those easy pickup and play games , all that really is to introduce the controller and until now its been a good share of party/puzzle games, but in reality is expanding the market that way, now I see theres a few casuals games released lately and the list is increasing. Nintendo still will make games for the core gamers , we will see them soon till the end of 07' and pass that , what Nintendo is doing is expanding the market by adding new games to the one that already exisist, a way to attract new/non gamers to join in but the hardcore games will always be there. everybody (nongamers, casual and hardcore) will have a good share of games thier like.

not all, but definitely alot of people still naysaying the new way to play either have not played yet and are ignorantly sceptical of what its like, they have played one or 2 games and think its not for them even though every game even in each genre plays different, as in they may find a game or control scheme that they feel is better then the old way, but they give up fast because its so alien to them., and theres some who will play some games but just refuse to do it right because they just have this fear of new things, when they have been happy with the same old way to play for so many years.

i am thinking we may lose a few gamers, but in time most will come to like it just fine. hopefully it will stop being called waggle and simply be the way to play, and gamers will stop saying every game that uses it needs to be innovative, unique, and just accept that a movement of the arm feels better then a button press sometimes at least, even if all it may be doing it taking the place of a button press. though that feeling is dependant on the person. for me it does so far.
