Ys Book I and II announced for the DS

Wednesday, October 22nd, 2008 at 6:33pm by Will

Apparently one of the most heralded (but unloved) action RPG franchises of all time is coming to Nintendo DS.  If your familiar with Ys Book I and II for the Turbo Grafx-16 on the virtual console then you will be familiar with this. Legacy of Ys: Books I & II delivers the same game play and story as that except in a nice looking enhanced package.

The two stories will be presented in 3D for the first time (in the U.S.), as well as feature remixed music scores, optional touch screen controls, and local wireless multiplayer for up to four people (not to shabby).

The game will be released on February 10, 2009 and is being published by Atlus. Hit the jump to see some screens.

Note: If you haven’t picked up Ys Books I and II for the Turbo Grafx-16, which features nice voice acting, then I suggest you do.

    NO!! BAD!!!
    I waited YEARS to play this game, I got it on Wii, and now you’ve upgraded it for DS I’m gonna HAVE to buy it!! that’s mean, just mean…

    @Jamie
    I was thinking the same thing. Release it on the VC for the fans who have been waiting for it and then announce a DS remake. Smart business move, but not very kind. At least i haven’t downloaded them. I’ve never played them and figured I would get them soon. Now I will wait for the DS version.

    You guys realize that Falcom, and Atlus don’t have anything to do with eachother Atlus licensed the game from Japan and is bringing it over here, while as Falcom would of never ported it into English. So I would stop complaining and thank Atlus.

    Maybe it’s just me, but that second screen looks an awful lot like a scene from RPGMaker (which sucked tons, by the way.)
