Wii Sports cleans up at BAFTA

Wednesday, October 24th, 2007 at 10:21pm by Jack

Wii Sports BAFTAJust like the Red Sox will do in the World Series, Wii Sports won big at the BAFTA awards.

The plucky title with enough staying power to stay relevant for the next 20 years took home awards for Best Casual Game, Best Gameplay, Best Innovation, Best Multiplayer, Best Sports, and Best Strategy and Simulation–all categories that lead me to believe this is a game that will ultimately stimulate even better ideas down the line.

Okami won won for best artistic achievement, which is weird, because it’s not done in HD /sarcasm; and rounding out the list with game of the year was BioShock. I’m totally OK with that, considering it’s a pretty good game and Super Mario Galaxy (38/40, via Famitsu) isn’t out yet.

I hate it when people diss on Wii Sports. It’s awesome! I try to play some tennis everyday. Bowling and Baseball also rock my boat.

Wii sports is one of the best game, most fun I have had with a group of people.
What’s better is you can have fun with non gamers as well.

I’m still a little surprised it took best Sports game. I find it hard to really consider it a sports game. Unless that means Sports-themed game.

Scratch that, I saw the list. They overlooked stuff. BUT, best STRATEGY. Ouch.

Hahahahahaha. WiiPlay was actually nominated. Too funny.
