Wii remote covers incoming

Wednesday, October 24th, 2007 at 6:21pm by Jake

Wii remote coversWhen checking the mail today I stumbled upon a small package from good o’l Redmond Washington. It’s always an exciting day when Nintendo sends you some more free anti-lawsuit material. Though that is the purpose of the new remote covers, they are also quite nice to use. Caion(Jason) gives us his full review…

First up was Wii Sports. Hitting balls with my with my racket has never felt so satisfying, and in my half-hour of moving my hand in repetitive jerking motions there was absolutely no trace of slippage. It felt quite good in my hand, with a satisfying texture to it (the Wii remote jacket
is ribbed for your pleasure)

Curious how this would affect the feel of a more advanced game, I popped in Metroid Prime 3: Corruption. I thrilled as I shot aliens with blasts from my big cannon, and pulled, twisted, and slowly inserted locking mechanisms into their gaping holes to throw open the doors blocking my furious advance. The space pirate on the other side trembled with fear as my missile had its way with it.

Overall I am very satisfied with this product. Playing with my Wii just got more comfortable. No longer do I need to hold it uncomfortably tight for fear that I may let it slip in my enthusiasm. It also makes the Wii-mote feel more comfortable for people with big hands (like myself). Kudos to Nintendo for their constant effort in ensuring that users of their console are safe while they’re having fun.

I totally agree. One bit to add…It also really helps when playing VC games. The fatter end allows you to grasp the remote more comfortably. Go place a free request here if you haven’t already ordered yourself a set.

What’s next for Wii remote safety?

That’s what I was wondering the most. Sounds like good times are ahead then. w00t

Innuendo and gaming have never been more fun!

On the topic at hand, the phrase “that looks Wii-tarded” finally gets a chance for use.

I just got mine! I was very surprised at how comfortable It was while playing VC games, I finally got to the final Boss(es) in Ghouls and Ghosts. So overall, this is a great cover.

Mine should be here this next week.

out of curiosity, did it update on your mynintendo account that it had shipped?

  9. Caion says...

It did. Funny enough, I got my package the same day it finally updated to “shipped”. So their system is terribly slow, at least in my case.

I forgot to order mine. Just went and placed the order now.

Yeah, I hope mine come soon, for Zack and Wiki…but actually I got these because I am really stoked for the Wii-mote only option on Brawl…and I download far more NES games because I can play them Wii-mote only as well. So heres to comfort, cheers!

i finally got a Wii just recently. I happened to stumble upon the last one left at my local wal-mart and i bought it right away. its the first one ive seen for sale in any store since it was released. but anyway, i was just wondering if i can still order those wii-mote covers considering my Wii came with one already? I know you have to put in your console serial number when you place the order.

Got mine in on Monday. LOVE THEM! I’m a big guy, so the extra padding these add make the Wii-motes more comfortable to hold.

How do you know if you ordered them or not? I can’t really tell if I did because my connection went dead while I was trying to order it a while ago… And these seem not to be listed in your shipping tracking stats in your Nintendo account.

I’m sure they feel a lot better, but MAN do they tear down the beautiful industrial design of the device. I know i can order them for free, but i haven’t been able to bring myself to do so.

  16. Daimyo Nintendo says...

@ Brandon I agree, I love the beautiful industrial design of remote, I don’t want a rubber to cover it up.

I have never bought second or third party crap either, I like the way Nintendo’s designs look and I am not going to cover it up with rubber to give me a better grip…for me looks are more important then functionality when it comes to this stuff.

I just ordered 1 for the hell of it, no way I am putting these ugly looking things on my remote. I have never had it slip, I am also still using my original wrist straps from launch! I have the new wrist straps but have not had a need to use them you see…my friends and I aren’t idiots and accidents are no excuse, I simply have no compassion for morons.

  17. dlindema says...

I have been checking my mail for these religiously…no sign of them.

  18. redjarman says...

I just got mine a couple days ago. I don’t really agree with the VC thing though. Yes, it is easier to grip. On ONE side. It just feels really awkward having one fat end and one skinny end.

Pretty funny review. With any luck, the covers can prevent issues like this from occuring:
