Wii lineup, 2007 edition

Tuesday, May 1st, 2007 at 1:19pm by Staff

Nintendo President Satoru Iwata announces 100+ games in development, and then this list of 2007 Wii games (Japan, mind you) is dropped to the eager press. Coincidence? Who cares, we get Super Mario Galaxy in 2007.

  • Donkey Kong Taru Jet Race (DK Jet or DK Bongo Blast, US) - June 28, 2007
  • Wii Health Pack — 2007
  • Disaster: Day of Crisis - 2007
  • Mario Party 8 - 2007
  • Project H.A.M.M.E.R. - 2007
  • Wii Music - 2007
  • Super Mario Galaxy - 2007
  • Super Smash Bros. Brawl - 2007
  • Battalion Wars II - 2007
  • Forever Blue - 2007
  • Mario Strikers Charged - 2007
  • Metroid Prime 3: Corruption - 2007
  • Mario and Sonic at the Olympics - 2007

Oh, and apparently Metroid, Smash Bros. and HAMMER as well. I don’t think I’ll be seeing the sky much in the latter half of ‘07. Or money. That’s roughly $200 right there. Just a hunch.

I’m skeptical that Nintendo will actually relase mario, metroid, and smash all within 6 months of each other (and realistically since we havn’t heard anything about these games in a while, they aren’t coming in the next 3 months either which leaves a 3-4 month timeframe for all 3 to be released in 2007).

In other words, atleast 1 of the 3 will be delayed to 2008 and I’m betting on Smash since I’m sure it could use an online overhall and the current state of Wii online is abysmall.

Including Super Paper Mario, this means Nintendo will release 6 games in 2007 featuring Mario.

Honestly, releasing these so close together makes it likely I will wait until a lot of them hit the $30 or $20 Player’s Choice list.

I agree with Anon, and I’ll add one up: I think two of these titles will be pushed into 2008, at least!

I’m looking forward to Battalion Wars 2, mostly…

I bet we WILL get the majority of these games in 2007. They already said that the lack of first party games is what killed the gamecube and that they were not going to let it happy to the wii.

Nintendo already has this planned out. Galaxy, Brawl, Party, and Strikers already look to be near completion. Wii Health Pack and Music are probebly a quicky titles like Wii Play. Others, such as Olympics, is being delevelop by 3rd parties. And, each game has been selected to be a different gender. They could all be released in the same timeframe without canibalizing eachother.

Nintendo is probebly holding back the system-seller-games because the systems are not readily available yet. When you can go to any game store and pick up a system, nintendo will be turning out games to keep sales up.

They will be out in time for Chrismas. Nintendo is going to clean up this year!

If they’re releasing all of these titles within a year, they must have some other killer titles that they have planned for the next year. This is good. It would behoove them to strike when the iron is still red hot. The Wii is selling boatloads and releasing these games will quench the thirsts of gamers for a while.

I wonder if Wii Health and Wii Music are hearty enough titles to sell on their own without bundling with something. Wii Health pack is going to have a jump rope peripheral or something.

I’m right there with you InvisibleMan. Battalion Wars 2 has the potential to be the one of the greatest games to use the WiiConnect24. If they throw in co-op and 4 player battles it’ll be a gift from the gods.

Also, I’m hearing rumors that say that Wii Health Pack and Music may just be downloadable channels, which would be so much more awesome.

I’m with InvisibleMan, where the ‘ell is Battalion Wars already? Geez, we were seeing detailed trailers for this game a LONG time ago, and I haven’t heard anything about a release date.

    Floating this…

If Nintendo did 2 out of 3 big hitters for Christmas, they could do the last one in spring and another Zelda in the fall. Console Zelda has been following 2 year cycles since 1998, after all. And then Animal Crossing in summer…! Or all three this year and Nintendogs in 2008.

Also, as someone mentioned, I highly doubt, say, Galaxy and Metroid will compete with each other, except in the case of people who will buy both no matter when they’re released.

anything with “Wii” in the title will sell out, they could even put out a game called “Wii Shit!” and people would buy it…
