Wii Hacked to be Region Free
Tuesday, August 19th, 2008 at 8:00am by WillApparently WiiBrew dev “Crediar” has released a Wii menu hack that allows you to edit some of the internal settings of the Wii. (Which could prove to be very dangerous if you don’t know what you are doing.) You could say this is similar to the DVD Hack that was seen a few days ago, where you could play and watch DVDs on your Wii. However, Starfall is a hack that unlocks many of the Wii’s internal services, including games and certain channels, to become region free.
With this you can finally run that copy of Dairantou Smash Brothers X you bought thinking the Wii was region free to begin with, or even go and import some games that would never come out here. Let us all go and get that shinkansen game “Densha de Go!”. All in all, this is some interesting developements since WiiBrew developers seem to be doing amazing things with the Wii. I wonder what Nintendo’s response to all of this is going to be.

A better option is the Team Twiizers “Menu Loader”, which applies exactly the same patches but does so on the fly, so you don’t need to flash your Wii. Much safer.

Red is right. Listen to Red.
So is Infendo now a source for Homebrew info, because if they are, then they need to get homebrew installed on their own Wii’s so that they know what they’re talking about. Maybe I’ll just have to hope that it’s still cool to have homebrew on your Wii after ‘everyone’ starts doing it.
Really, I just want people to really do their homework.

Yeah there is all types of stuff you can do with the Wii, there was also Gecko Region Free before this. But you have to understand that talking about Homebrew, and all the exploits, and just informing people about it is two different things altogether.
Some people need a light push into it, just by letting them know it’s able to be done. Not how many different ways there is to do it. Also, that’s why there is comments, to discuss and also inform. Plus, Me and Red are all about Homebrew, Infendo… not really so much.

There’s a really goo how-to guide over at Lifehacker, explaining how to run the TP Hack, install the Homebrew Channel, and set up the DVD player. It’s pitched perfectly for the “I’ve always wanted to try homebrew but don’t want to wade through the awful homebrew forums” crowd.
