Which original games will excel when sold via the Wii Shop Channel?

As we all already know Impossible Mission is going to drop sometime in the near future courtesy of the Wii Shop Channel. It’s a first for Nintendo, but not necessarily for an industry that has seen the likes of Xbox Live Arcade.
Since the debate and conversation on Infendo has been lively this week on a range of other topics, I thought I’d try and tap into that with a post about other original IP that will be shipped not via the retail channels, but completely online via the Wii Shop Channel.
What kinds of games do you want to see? Remakes? Old IP from obscure systems? What genre do you think will have the biggest impact when delivered to players this way? Note that last question is not what you’d *like” to see from a digital distribution channel, it’s what you think will perform best on a Nintendo system.

I concur. Let’s see some old point and click adventure games from Sierra, Lucasarts, and others.

I think it would be great to see something like what they did with Bit Generations in Japan for the Game Boy Advance. I’m sad that they didn’t bring those to the states.

Their upcoming Wii Health and Wii Music should be downloaded Wii Channels because I don’t think they’re big enough titles in terms of content to warrant a packaged retail product. And they just sound like they should be Wii Channels (Wii Health Channel and Wii Music Channel).
And I agree, Wii is the perfect system for point-and-click adventures. Downloaded episodic content for them would be awesome too.

Things like the minigames in Wii Play and Fighting games ala Marvel Vs. Capcom.

Vectorman…. Just give me Vectorman!!
I’d like to see some simple turn-based strategy games, like Advance Wars, that can be played online via a Wii Channel, also.

Definitely some arcade classics like “Dungeons and Dragons”.
Point and Click adventure games would make SO MUCH sense!
Also, it would be REALLY great to get games that were never released in America like Hideo Kojima’s “Policenauts.”

I’d love to see some completely original games up for download on the Wii shop channel. It could be a great avenue for small developers to release content. Also, I’d love to see a few good RPGs (Chrono Trigger, oh God, please get us some Chrono Trigger!)
Considering how Square Enix is so dead set on re-releasing old classics I’m surprised they haven’t jumped all over the virtual console for some easy cash flow.

I’d like to see those obscure Japan only games appear over here.
As for original IPs, I’m all for it. Nintendo should open up a community for enthusiasts and indie developers to pitch their ideas and have Nintendo pick out the best to sell on the VC.

Super Star Wars Prequel Trilogy! That would be awesome! Never going to happen though
