Vote for Amazon’s crazy deal: Wii for $79

They’re at it again.
Just like last year’s site-killing Xbox 360 deal, Amazon is again asking customers to vote on which products they’d like to see get an insane discount. Round 1? Three video game consoles. The Wii is being offered for $79, if it wins. Right now it’s in the lead by a good margin, with the PS3 trailing in second and the Xbox with 14%.
Other notable contests: High def DVD players. The HD DVD one from Toshiba is currently winning over a Blu-Ray one and a TiVo.
There are 1,000 units available for the winning console. If you’re an Amazon customer, go vote!

The wii for 79 is such a better deal than the 40gb ps3 model.

Wow, that’s insanely cheap… anyone know if there is a UK version of this?

I googled a UK version… but alas, I don’t think we get one… When do the US items start selling at that price? I wanna see if they will post to the UK. Certainly wouldn’t mind getting my hands on a £75 HD DVD player

If you read the FAQ, it says you need to click through to the item’s main page to see shipping conditions. The Wii will not ship outside the US. It goes on sale on the 22nd, but only to 1,000 randomly selected people who voted for it.
Last year, could anybody buy the winning item, or was it the same random selection?
I think the chances of winning any of these items is very low. It’s a shock tactic used to get people to visit their site. I guess it works though…
It is interesting as a news story only in the sense that it displays the Wii’s popularity vs the other consoles…

Ugh, nevermind. It’s an Arcade. I’d much rather have a gimped PS3 and a PS2 than an Arcade. Worthless.

So I went to the page, and the thing is…
I ALREADY HAVE A WII!
So I voted for the PS3.
(Also, I already have an HD DVD player, and so I voted for the Blu-ray player. That one made me feel even dirtier.)
