Did he ever actually mention that a Wii (as opposed to, say, a PC) was powering all of this, and is thus, ‘Wii homebrew’? I don’t see why a Wii would actually be necessary… the remote could send all the same information to a PC via Bluetooth.
The interface on the TV is styled after that of a Wii, but that doesn’t necessarily mean that there’s a Wii at work here.

This dude is rad. I wonder what esle he has done in his his tinkering. By the way it’s actually kinda obvious that what is “powering” his screen is the wii up until that grid shows up, ya couple a’ dummies.

He started with the Wii, using the sensitivity setup routine within the Wii’s setup menu, then he switched to a display from a PC.
VERY intriguing. This gets you thinking of what other ways Nintendo can come up with to interact with their little white box!
