Is it just me, or is the what seems to be a five second delay when powering off your Wii annoying? It’s not a huge deal, but I feel like I have to wait for my Wii to shut down before I can comfortably leave the room. Maybe its just a small case of geek OCD…
Can I get a witness?

its geek ocd but its justifiably geek ocd. only us geeks would find that little thing annoying.

You have a witness right here…I also don’t like that when trying to connect to a channel which uses internet if it can’t connect and it doesn’t find an error code, it keeps you in a loop of connecting. You can’t hit the home button, or restart the system by turning holding the power button, you have to manualy unplug the system. Fun system nonetheless.

I have to wait and watch now, because my Wii froze on shut down, and stayed on at a black screen.
So now its a must to watch.

Amen

Definately. I wait there as well, especially if I don’t bother to go to the Wii menu at first, then shut it off.

not a problem

seriously OCD

I watch, but are you referring to the screen remaining black for several seconds, or having to hold down the power button for several seconds? Both are explainable
1. Probably WiiConnect24 related, ie: needs time to connect
2. To prevent accidentally shutting off the console

Meh, I don’t find it an issue. I just hold down the power button when I’ve had enough of Mario’s lip. It shuts ‘em up good, and does a little something for my frustration.

Does it do this when you shut down via the power button on the Wii Remote? That is how I always shut down and it seems that it powers right down.

SHUT UP! Wow you’re a moron!

It may be a quick “shutdown” sequence to ensure the Wii wasn’t writing to memory as it cut the power to prevent data loss.
Also, if there’s a disc inside the Wii doesn’t seem to make much noise but turn it off without a game and you’ll hear the disc drive whirring . This is most likely putting the “disc grabbers” in the unit in place in case you decide to load up a GC/Wii game while the machine’s off.
What bothers me more though is the slow load times between channels. Pres. Iwata said he was unhappy too and they were going to try to fix it so let’s hope they do.

These little complaints are starting to get a bit annoying, actually.
You’re thinking too deeply about things. Just let it all flow. All these little things don’t matter. I mean seriously; just press the button get on with your life D:

not much of a complaint there if you ask me, compared to some other boot up times.
must be a slow news day.
April 24th, 2007 at 3:33 am
No its not a slow news day!! check out other sites like gonintendo.com and niwifi.net and check out all they posted today. infendo is just not that good
April 24th, 2007 at 5:21 am
Infendo has never really posted news like those bigger sites. Does it matter? Nah.

Yes. The power-off pause is kind of annoying to me, too! But maybe necessary for some system cleanup reason, like Liraco pointed out…
And like Will mentioned, I’ve also had my Wii freeze on power down once or twice (and quite a few times on power up, too!). But it beats the wait for Windows XP!

its annoying… sometimes in waiting i press the button again and it turns back on…
