Smash Bros. Brawl delayed a month to Mar. 9

Due to delays in the completion of Super Smash Bros. Brawl, we’ve had to change the release date of the game to Sunday, March 9th. I deeply apologize to the people who have looked forward to playing the game for so long and ask that you hold on just a little longer. Thank you for your patience.
Too bad, fortunately there’s No More Heroes, de Blob, and a handful of other unique titles to tide us over. Prediction: Mario Kart Wii gets pushed to summer.

I saw this this morning… sucks, especially since it was so close. I just hope this doesn’t get delayed as much as Zelda: TP did.

Let me be the first to say the old cliché ” if the delay is going to make the game better, then I am all for it” there I said it, no need for any fanboys to do it =)
But yeah, so may great games out on so many great systems, a delay is not the endo of the world. Maybe now I will pick up SonicVS Mario or something…

According to the Japanese site, it’s going to be delayed a week there, and will be out on January 31st.

Right on, Doc .. more time for me to finish a slew of other games. I say release it in March and push Mario Kart back to either Xmas or even next spring.

This is one of the only sites that I have seen where the comments about the delay have been both reasonable and mature. Thank you.
P.S. Anyone have any idea why the Japanese date was pushed by a week, while the U.S was pushed back by a month?

I would much rather have delays than have the feeling that the game could have been more because it was rushed to please impatient fans, so this doesn’t bother me at all. Blizzard does the same thing and look at their success rate.
Also - like a lot others here - I have plenty of other games to finish I’ll wait till it’s truly finished, even if it takes another delay.

I have a feeling that the delay has to do with online support and the infrastructure in Japan is much easier to test due to the dense population. In the USA where it becomes much more complicated they’ll probably have to do more testing and have beefier servers. I’m sure they’re trying to avoid the problems Microsoft had after Christmas last year especially with this being their flagship title for the year (and maybe even the console lifecycle).

@rawktapus: Most likely they just need more time for localization. I know Brawl won’t be a text heavy game by any means but I’m sure a lot of the alternate voices will still need to be recorded for the non-JPN versions.

Hey look at it this way more time to finish the other games which i will take advantage of and hopefully they can enhance some parts of this game for the best, not that it needs any since it look great but its all for the best.

This game was the only thing keeping me from selling my Wii and buying a different console. I stood in line all day the day the Wii came out I have always loved nintendo and always owned one. However, this game was the one that I thought would be the game. Aftter playing a actually intense, fun, realistic, and TRUE online game on another console I think that I cannot wait until March. I agree that nintendo has good intentions at heart but it is not satisfying my gaming wants or needs. Therefore, my Wii is up for sale if you want it

But, seriously, guys, chill out. I’ve actually come to expect these delays from Nintendo. In fact, when I the first release date was published, I said to myself “this means that Brawl isn’t gonna come out until at least 2 months after this date”
They just wanna improve the game, y’now?
But there’s one part that confuses me… Hasn’t Brawl already gone gold? Wouldn’t it be too late to make any changes?
Maybe they just have more stuff that they wanna reveal on smashbros.com and they don’t want to have to release all the inside info just yet…

man Ive been waiting about 2 years (or about the time the site was made) but its for the good i guess *waiting* i was looking forward to it december 3, febuary 10, now march 9. I guess i’ll just have to beat lego star wars 3 with my brother. lego star wars is a good game for the waiting of brawl. when lego dudes die they break apart. lots of cool lego stuff tons of guys! *still waiting for brawl!*
