Resident Evil 4 for Wii confirmed

Wednesday, April 4th, 2007 at 3:30pm by Staff

IGN is reporting that Famitsu is reporting that Resident Evil 4* is coming out for Wii in Japan on May 31st, 2007. While Capcom re-releases Resident Evil titles more often than George Lucas milks Star Wars home video releases, it’s not really a surprise that this title is scheduled for the REmake treatment.

From the IGN article:

The Wiimote is used to aim a targeting cursor in order to target and fire at your enemies. To reload, you hold down on the B trigger and shake the Wiimote. In case you were wondering, the built-in speaker is being programmed with a reload sound effect.

Okay, sold! Do you look forward to RE4 on Wii? If so, why?

*It will be titled “Biohazard 4 Wii Edition” in Japan

Score! I’ve been wanting to play the PS2 version to experience the new Ada missions, but now I get to do that with the Wii mote. And it looks like it cab be an awesome way to play the game, what with knife slashing and reloading motions. Yes!

    RE4 party at my house.

Awesome! I only ever rented RE4, and I liked it, but I just never got around to buying it. My only question: Like a lot of the shovel-ware on the Wii, is this going to be the normal $50, or will we see a discount for this port? I’m excited, but I can wait for the $20 price drop we all know will come later.

If this game really is $30, I’m totally there. I enjoyed it on Cube a whole lot, so this should be nothing but improvement.

I’ll definitely pick up RE4 for Wii. I was always interested in the RE series, but wouldn’t touch it ’til they got rid of that ridiculous control scheme. I loved RE4 on GCN and played it through three times straight. I’d love to play it again on the Wii. And Capcom, please, for the love of all that is good: bring RE5 to the Wii! I’m sure Umbrella Chronicles will be cool, but I want RE5 too!

Sadly, I’m not going to be buying this. I have already completed the game twice on the cube (and I did buy the unlimited rocket launcher if your asking) and I don’t feel the need to shell out another £40 for the same game.

Theres not even a single word on Capcom updating the graphics. How much effort do they have to put in to make this REmake?

Plus, I’m not too happy with Capcom at the moment by making RE:UC an on-the-rails game. Boo Capcom, boo!

The only reason I would want this is for the Ada missions and I do not think that these are worth the extra money!

So, this is great for those who havn’t played the game before, but sadly I have.

    i didnt play the original,
dont u think it would be better playing the original
with its intended controls, maybe its hard to paly
    RE with motion sensing technology

True widescreen (instead of the letterboxed lo-res format) and progressive scan (I’m in PAL-land) pretty much already make this an essential purchase. At least if it’s not full-price.

It is possible they could also use higher level-of-detail settings (don’t drop as many polygons from objects in the distance) and better draw distances and maybe even bigger textures, provided they have higher quality versions. These should be pretty easy to implement without needing to create any new content (which I’m sure Capcom doesn’t want to do).
