NGamer: No Wii Friend Codes. Bwa- Whaa?

Monday, March 26th, 2007 at 1:01pm by Staff

I really don’t care what the eventual Wii Friend Code outcome is, but seriously this friend code debate (or is that fiend code to some?) is getting me downright dizzy. At first each console had one code, then each game had their own code a la the DS, and then today GoNintendo digs up yet another magazine scan that shows NGamer dropping a new bomb on the pile.

This whole “controversy” seems to hinge on this “Falafelkid” character, who has since claimed he has inside knowledge on this new matter and has “debunked” the magazine scan. In just this case, I’m going to side with a magazine over an anonymous Internet handle who has access to a magic telephone. Just this once.

I guess we’ll just have to wait until the U.S./U.K. launch of Pokemon so we can confirm what’s really going on and therefore move onto the next rumor, like whether or not the Wii’s unicorn breeding powers are really all they’re cracked up to be.

You have no idea who Falafelkid is do you?

I do. Entirely. Still don’t trust him. Is that a crime I’m not aware of?

I have a Wii with an advance version of the new firmware with the unicorn breeding channel, and I must say it is spectacular. The only downside is your Gamecube controller ports must be empty as that’s where the unicorns come out of.

i was reading nintendo power latest issue, and the pokemon DS Q&A had a piece talking about online battle, where it was commented that some parts of online didnt need friend codes, and this is pokemon, it surprised me that any part of it wasnt locked down.
we already know that other games dont need friend codes to plat some or all of online features. i think the wii will be the same, each game can choose to impliment it, and nintendo and gamespy was just speaking of first party titles, as at least for nintendo, thats all they can officially comment on.

basically, i dont see why Wii online would be more restrictive then DS online.
