Miyamoto doesn’t know when to shut it

If you’ve been following Nintendo for the past decade you probably know that the company is very sneaky when giving interviews. You also know that Miyamoto has some trouble with that. Here are the five games that Miyamoto has accidentally spilled the beans on at E3 2008.
-Zelda Wii: Says that the title doesn’t exist, but the Zelda team which always works on the series is “hard at work”.
-Kid Icarus Wii: Again he pushes that Kid Icarus is not a game, nor is one being developed, but mentions that a Kid Icarus team exists.
-Pikmin 3: Shiggy says the game has not been announced, but why bring the subject up in the first place? Update: Miyamoto confirms Pikmin 3 minutes after this post.
-Punch-out!! Wii: When explaining the possibilities of the MotionPlus he uses Punch-Out as an example…”many possibilities such as a very accurate version of Punch-out that goes beyond what Wii sports boxing can do…”
-Mario DS: Reminds us that there are two AAA Mario teams. The Galaxy team in Tokyo, and the DS team at Kyoto HQ. Adds that the Mario DS team is also working hard. It might not mean anything, but again why bring it up?
I’m sure Shiggy’s news leaks are probably giving Reggie, and Iwata quite a struggle to cover loose ends. The real question is release dates. Just how long will we wait for these to reach us? Q4 2009 suddenly feels so far away.
One more day of E3 left. One last day to pry some more info out of Mr. Mushroom himself!

Joystiq just said that Pikmin 3 was confirmed.

Yep, Miyamoto spilled the beans on Pikmin 3 according to Joystiq’s Liveblog from Nintendo’s 2008 E3 Developer Roundtable.

Don’t forget about this:
“We don’t really have a question,” said Casamassina. “We just want you to make another Galaxy game.”
“Leave it to me,” said Miyamoto.
That seems pretty dang close to a confirmation to me.

Good ol’ Shiggy, people should interview this guy more often cuz seriously, we’d like more *ahem* news about “un-announced” and “un-confirmed” games

I love Miyamoto, because he’s just so awesome.
Do you think he’s “accidentally” spilling the beans on all of these projects because he’s secretly unhappy with the fact that Nintendo is asking him to do Wii Music? ;D
(Yes, I know, it appears he’s the one who came up with the idea, it was a joke. See, backlash will not be an issue for me.)

@ Andrew
I actually think that he doesnt likes the way Nintendo is all secretive…
Just look at him! You know his a man that like to share and make ppl happy whenever he has a chance.
Oh and announce games too lol jk
but seriously
i dont think he likes Nintendo keeping all that as secrets.

I love the way he just tosses out “Leave it to me”
As if they weren’t working on a Galaxy 2 but he’s gonna make it happen now just because matt asked so nicely.
“Hey Shiggy, any chance of a 2d Metroid on the DS? Please”
“for you? sure, why not?”

Kind of hard to stay mad at the man who put you on the map . . . and has kept you there.

Maybe they’re just tired of getting criticized when they miss their release dates so they’re waiting longer?
What I’m wondering is how the retailers are liking this strategy. E3 was always about retail planning, so I imagine the retailers are either more in the dark then ever, which may translate into less shelf space made available for nintendo (bad), or they have more unannounced information in their hands from closed-door meetings than ever before. I wonder who is worse at keeping secrets, retailers or game “journalists”?

This is Nintendo:
“Damn, we hit our hardcore harder than we thought (hopefully they’ll die soon, we hate them). How will we be able to keep them hooked to the Wii? We need the extra cash they spend on VC’s and games for our pent houses. Wait, I got it! Shiggy, spill some of the beans! But don’t let them know none of these titles are coming out till 2009 or 2010 and will be completely casualized!”
