Mega Man out on Virtual Console tomorrow eventually!

Sunday, August 3rd, 2008 at 12:49pm by David

VC-Reviews has confirmed that Mega Man will be out for the Virtual Console tomorrow.  No, it’s not Mega Man 9, but the original.  They also found out that Mega Man 2 will be out in September.  Also out tomorrow are NEOGEO fighter Samurai Shodown II and the TG16 RPG Ys Book I & II.

So, will you buy Mega Man on Monday or wait for Mega Man 2?  Or are you just going to hold out for Mega Man 9?

Oooooh… tempting! I’m still looking for the Megaman Anniversary collection for the Cube, but playing with the Wiimote sideways NES style or with a classic controller has its appeal.

Jonkind: Don’t get it for the cube. They reversed the buttons and it’s almost unplayable. Get it for the PS2 (if you have one). I found it at gamestop pretty easily and it was only like 10 bucks or something.

But, yeah, I’m stoked for this. I think I’ll even buy Mega Man 2 on VC even though I have the collection because I want to play with the wiimote, and I want to be able to just have it in my menu so I can play it whenever.

Not sure about Megaman but if Ys is what I remember playing a few years ago, I may be looking towards that one..

    ChunkyB,

it’s true, the buttons are reversed in Mega Man Anniversary Collection on Gamecube, but I found if you play it on the Gamecube using your thumb on B and your index finger on Y, it works just fine, and as someone who was raised on this game, I can say I had no problem playing through all the games this way. I say Y rather than A because Y does rapid-fire, which is very cool. The price difference alone makes it more than worth it despite the swapped buttons, not to mention the fact that Mega Man 8 can’t appear on VC because it was a PlayStation game. Of course if the PS2 or Xbox version is an acceptable option for people, they can go with that one.

Won’t be getting Megaman on the VC since I own the anniversary collection on the cube. SS2 though, that is a definite buy.

It’s a pretty tough choice. I like the Megaman games quite a bit, but I have both three and 3 for the Famicom (played with a cart converter) and I don’t actually play them that much. Of course, the “save state” of the VC makes NES games a lot easier to deal with, but I’m not sure i would PLAY it enough to warrent the purchase.

I also really suck at Megaman 1.

News Flash: If you can’t even adjust to the reversed Jump/Shoot; then you are really doing it wrong on the Anniversary Collection on GC. I find it no trouble AT ALL, and it is … gasp … NO HUGE DEAL!

    (Sorry for double post)

With that said, I ain’t getting Mega Man 1 and 2 on the VC; I have it on the Gamecube with the Anniversary and it is FINE, DANDY, and just all around GOOD ENOUGH!

Samurai Shodown 2 on the otherhand…..GIMMME NOW!!! >:O

Hmmm… anniversary edition on PS2 eh? Think, think, think…
