There’s no need to be coy. Mario Strikers Charged is the freshest, best-looking, best presented, best sounding, and funnest game I’ve played on Wii in a long time, maybe all year. Granted, I’ve only played it for the last 45 minutes, but I’m already sold on all counts. And yes, Wii is officially online and it’s a lot of fun. Not perfect, but at this price (free), I love it! I’ll try and pipe in later with more details, but fire away with any questions in the comments and for those who own the game, let us know what you think.

I picked this up this evening and it’s an absolute riot! I have no idea what’s going on half the time, but a little chaos is fine by me! I particularly like the Hammer Bros. hammer toss - there’s something just very satisfying about it.
One thing that did happen was I won a best of three match online and it said that there was some sort of statistics error, and I wasn’t allocated my earned points. But whatever.

This game is so much fun and is a nice fresh diversion for the summer. I’ve never played the original, so I had to go through the tutorials and beat teh first cup before venturing online. But it is so fun to play others online and the matches can become really intense, especially in sudden death.
The single player is a decent game on its own. But the multiplayer is where this will find its legs until SSBB comes out later online (hopefully).
My only 2 gripes are that there are no announcers (but the smash brothers-like name chanting is fun) and that this did not come out like a month ago which would have been a better decision imo.

I havent played online in ages. I think I had about 5 games in the first week I got it. Thats about it.

Not to pick a nit, but I keep seeing people say that “Wii is finally online” with Strikers. Pokemon Battle Revolution really was the first in that respect, even though Strikers will undoubtedly sell better.
That said, I can’t wait to finally play online with my Wii!!!

story mode is way to hard after the first cup but other than that it is pretty good.

I agree. I’ve been looking forward to this game for awhile. Some for the soccer, but mostly to be able to play the Wii online (finally). The colors, music, intro scenes, etc are great to look at it and the gameplay is alot of fun. Online Play worked fine as well, but not perfect. I’ll be playing this game for a long time.
The only negatives I’ve scene:
1) Load Times in between training and/or subsequent games.
2) Menu system not completely intuitive.
3) Mii Friend Codes. If 2 Wiis are already “friends” can’t Strikers just “authorize” all of the Miis between those 2 systems?

Apparent lag depends on both user connections I believe. While playing one friend c-dub, I’ve had next to no lag. While playing, mark on his shody connection, lag happens every now and then, though its usually not a problem. I have got disconnected while play him about 2/6 times though.

So, after logging an insane number of hours into this game, I have crafted a very small list of gripes.
1. The “charged ball” mechanic is lame. I prefer the “perfect pass” system that was utilized in the original GameCube title. Playing defense is next to impossible when people are button-mashing to keep passing the ball, charge it to a flashing white, and seemingly automatically score because of it. That is a pretty sissy way to play this game, especially for purists who played the original to death.
2. The importance of the sidekicks has been increased, but giving them “skill shots” that are impossible to stop is, again, lame. You can play incredible defense the entire game, but if Birdo gets open and charges a shot, her giant egg blast is an automatic score. The same goes for the Hammer Brother’s hammer toss, which if shot close to the goal, is an automatic score. This kinda gives them a lop-sided power over the captains, which become irrelevant as the “mega strikes” are relatively easy to stop with some practice.
Other than that, this game is almost perfect. The online mode is electronic crack. As someone said earlier, it is freakin’ impossible to put down. My gripes are minor, admittedly.
