Mario Strikers Charged online play detailed

Tuesday, April 24th, 2007 at 12:30pm by Staff

I had a fugly post on Wii online play the other day, so hopefully this makes up for it: More Mario Strikers Charged info, including what the online will entail.

From our brothers in arms at 4cr:

  • 12 Captains, with each their own attributes.
  • Bowser is a new playable Captain this year.
  • For the first time you can mix and match sidekicks in your team.
  • Boo, Dry bone, Shyguy and Monty Mole are new sidekicks.
  • 9 new Stadiums, each with their own events. Such as no sidewalls so you can push the other team off the field.
  • Each Captains have their own special ability.
  • Sidekicks each have different skill shots.

Online play

  • You’ll be able to play ranked and unranked games online.
  • Playing 2 players locally on one Wii against 2 players on another Wii online.
  • Season, each season is around 3 months, during those three months it will keep track of all your win/lose and the points you’ve won.
  • Striker of the day mode. If you’re get the most ranking point in a certain day, your Mii will be featured on everyones Wii.

Friend Code

  • You import your Mii in Strikers, and get a friend code per Mii. This way, you and your family can have different friends to play with online.

Friend Codes are back, and aren’t going away. For some reason I’ve just become numb to them; I think I’ve finally reached the acceptance stage in the grieving process.

Yeah, I’ve become numb to Friend Codes, too, but only because I don’t use them anymore!

The main problem with individual Friend Codes per game is that you can never tell if and what game your friends are playing at any given moment, which makes getting together online an extremely elaborate process.

I dont mind playing random people online without recording each friend code at all. the friend code should only be in effect if you want to replay the same person again and again.

looking at the set up that strikers has now, looks really decent. the wifi on wii and ds is perfect, friend codes and all. they really dont cause that much problems at all. the problems people have with friend codes is that they are just lazy.

“Playing 2 players locally on one Wii against 2 players on another Wii online.”

    That sounds fun.

It took me awhile to accept friend codes for Pokemon Pearl, but it still annoys the heck out of me.

Far as Mario Strikers goes, at least this game has some nice online features ESPECIALLY what frstOne pointed out.

I just hope you can play with random online people and automatically be able to add them (and have them know so they add you back if they choose).

If it could work in this sense (like MSN’s IM program where you add someone and they get a request to add or block you). That would be awesome, but if that’s nt the case, that’s what asking your friends directly is for. It’s interesting to note that it’s Mii specific…

I wonder if I should use the real Mii or one of the strange critters I’ve made.

    Hmmm…maybe I misunderstood the Mii/Friend Code thing.

I thought they attached the friend code to the Mii, so that way all you had to do was send you Mii, instead of entering the entire Code.

I wouldn’t mind sending Miis with codes attached. If it worked that way.
