Japan: Mario Kart Wii off to a good start, sells 594k in one week
Thursday, April 17th, 2008 at 11:03am by JackIt’s not nearly the launch that Super Smash Bros. Brawl enjoyed, but Mario Kart Wii, at least in Japan, is enjoying brisk sales after a week on the market.
Media Create reports the kooky racing title pushed 594,000 units in Japan since its launch one week ago. It currently sits in the number one software sales spot overseas. Smash Bros Brawl, on the other hand, sold about 874,000 copies in one day, and 1.4 million in its first week.
Regardless, Nintendo has another first party IP hit on its hands. Kudos to them.

I heard Mario Kart Wii was one of the fastest selling games for the UK. Especially seeing as SSBB ain’t been officially released yet. any that has been bought by us has gone onto the American sales due to having to import it.

Something to add also…
According to http://www.videogamer.com/news/14-04-2008-8034.html
The week one sales for Mario Kart Wii in the UK were more than the combined week one sales for Mario and Sonic at the Olympic Games, Super Mario Galaxy, Mario Strikers, Mario Party 8 and Super Paper Mario.
That’s combined, not individually

I didn’t like the look of the graphics in the Game Informer article I read, I could actually notice the pixels, but I can get over that and they’re good enough.
Get a new pic for MK Wii articles. =P
