Internet Channel for Wii - full version released

Is your Wii flashing this morning? The full version of the Internet Channel was released today. After an update of my Wii’s firmware (from version 2.0U to 2.2U) and a download of the new Internet Channel from the Wii Ware section of the Shopping Channel, my browsing experience on Wii was fully enhanced.
New features introduced in today’s release include:
- New type of zoom, more scrolling options, increased simplicity and ease-of-use, and the ability to turn the toolbar on or off.
- This version of the browser remains a free download until June 30, 2007, and once downloaded is free for the lifetime of the system.

Ugh. Firmware updates..
But still, I like this browser more than the last. Nice job Opera.

I passed the blue pulse on my way to let the dog out at 4:00 this morning. As much as I wanted to return to bed, on my way back through I couldn’t resist the urge to turn it on. Through squinted eyes and fuzzy cognition, I found my way to the download and fired it up. Man, this is so much easier to use than the other. And the autozoom feature is outstanding, how it zooms to the width of the table column you are viewing. The greatest improvement in my opinion is the autohide feature of the navagation bar. Way to go Opera/Nintendo. In the wii hours of the morning, I couldn’t say my name, but I could easily browse the web.

Well, it is a lot better than the beta but after using it for around an hour it locked up on me and I had to turn the power off manually. This frequently happened to me with the beta but I hoped the final version would fare better. Don’t know if it’s good that their fresh browser is already freezing up.

It was launched yesterday, not today.

I’m a big fan of the new release. And I like what they’ve done with the graphical elements (clicks, loading pointer, etc.). It’s actually fun to browse now.
