Internet Channel developers discuss final version of Wii browser

Developers of the Internet Channel for Wii had a round table discussion and revealed some new info concerning the final build (with video examples). While this doesn’t exactly sound like the last version of the Internet Channel that we’ll see, it is exciting that the new version will have some dynamic differences from the Trial edition currently available.
A few embellishments:
- updated scrolling
- improved zooming
- an auto-hide toolbar
- better compatibility with more sites
- multiple remote cursors
- search button
- improved response speed
Still no tabbed browsing or external keyboard support, although the latter doesn’t sound completely out of the question for a future build of the software.
Sounds like it’s improving, but is there any functionality you’d still like to see?

It is great to see that the developers of the Internet Channel have taken the flaws and complaints of the trial version into account for the final version.
I am surprised at how much I have actually used the Internet Channel. It may not offer an in-depth browsing experience akin to Safari or Firefox, but it is tremendously convenient. I am anxious to download the final version later in April.
And kudos to Nintendo for offering it for free.

An aside: I really don’t see how people can *complain* about channels like the Internet and Everybody Votes. They are complementary services, offered for free, that are not necessary to enjoy the Wii as a whole. Complaining about them is like a Boston-based blogger like me complaining about the weather in China.
Note, this has nothing to do with any comments in this thread already. FYI

Why that photo, David?

That photo, because it’s part of the photo Nintendo posted for that article here. And the guy (Yoshida) has a funny look on his face.

Funny look as in “what the heck more do you want? It’s a friggin’ console!”
I’d like more plug-in support, by the way…

Tabs! Definitely tabs. We need to have more than one page open at once!
