Guitar Hero band editions - what is your pick?
Saturday, July 5th, 2008 at 4:24pm by David
With the new Aerosmith edition of Guitar Hero out now and a Metallica edition due early 2009, we want to know which band you think deserves the full game treatment. Give us your pick in comments and include reasons why they deserve to get their own edition of the game. We’ll be discussing our choices and yours on the next Infendo Radio.

The Who

The Beatles.
ACDC
Led Zeppelin
Linkin Park
Green Day/Foxboro Hot Tubs

How about a Dave Grohl edition, starting as the drummer in Nirvana and instant fame, then suddenly back to writing/recording by himself, then through the beginnings of the Foo Fighters right through to playing stadium tours
Chili Peppers would provide a good history/library as well

Lynyrd Skynyrd!!!
Imagine…
Call Me The Breeze, Don’t Ask Me No Questions, Free Bird, Gimme Three Steps, Saturday Night Special, Simple Man, Sweet Home Alabama, That Smell, Travelin’ Man, Tuesday’s Gone, What’s Your Name
JUST FOR STARTERS! Then use the 60/40 mix they did with GH:A like some Allman Bros., .38 special, Black Crowes, Charlie Daniels, Molly Hatchet!
I’d even pay $80 for the remade Les Paul too!

I’ve been advocating a Guitar Hero: Heavy Metal edition for quite some time. As a devout metalhead, I get bored easily with the song selections on Guitar Hero games, and I often only play the same 3 or 4 songs over and over. If I had an entire game with metal songs, it’d be spectacular.
As for one band…Guitar Hero: Megadeth. Period.

I’m with DB, Chili Peppers would make a great GH edition given their intriguing/difficult bass and guitar parts.
July 5th, 2008 at 5:51 pm
Guns n roses. Altho itd be like Aerosmith, you’d have to pick specific songs.
July 5th, 2008 at 6:03 pm
Beatles
Foo Fighters
Red Hot Chili Peppers
Dragon Force(just kidding!)
Bon Jovi
Dream Theater
Maroon 5
Megadeth
Queen
“Weird Al” Yankovic(again,just kidding!

I’d like to see either Nickleback or Linkin Park have their own, but it would be hard for both since they use wide ranges of instruments.
Therefore, my total choice must go to Amber Pacific. Awesome guitar parts, and if they could add the full set of instruments it would be a very good experience.

Most people don’t seem to understand the process and just put random bands that they like. Unfortunately, many of the bands posted here are, for various reasons, impossible. Ones like Linkin Park, Maroon 5, Green day, and possibly even the beatles would never work out. I’d have to go with bands like The Who, though your best bet is probably with genres. I’d love a southern rock GH.

Also, a few picks from my family, hope they’re self explanitory.
The Beatles
Rolling Stones
Dragonforce
Eagles
Lynyrd Skynyrd
ACDC
Iron Maiden
Led Zepplin
Black Sabbath
Blue Oyster Cult
Elvis Presley
ZZ Top
Nirvana
I got my family involved with Infendo! Yay!!!!
July 5th, 2008 at 6:55 pm
Mars Volta, Flaming Lips, Muse, McLusky, Symphony X, and a number of others…
Of course it’s not going to happen, but I can still aspire. lol
July 5th, 2008 at 7:00 pm
Queen.
With Nickelback, you would only need to do the same song with different lyrics.
July 5th, 2008 at 7:31 pm
Wham!
July 5th, 2008 at 7:43 pm
System of a Down. I know they have at least one track coming up on the next Guitar Hero but, I’d like to see nothing but them. Furthermore, For the love of someones lord. No bloddy Linkin Park GH! It wouldn’t work unless they gave you some kind of synth instrument.
Note to self. Make Synth Hero

I think I already covered this with the most recent contest: Bathory. Raw black metal and epic viking metal. Hell yes!
July 5th, 2008 at 7:45 pm
My vote for a future Guitar Hero band edition is Black Sabbath. They have many well known and influential songs that would make for a challenging and exciting game. Much of the fuel for guitar rock in the 80s flowed from Black Sabbath and they are often sighted as inspiration for bands to this day.
July 5th, 2008 at 7:48 pm
Whoops, not the most recent. >_>
July 5th, 2008 at 8:48 pm
Sabbath would be good, and Queen would be a personal favorite, but my vote would have to go to Judas Priest. Many of their tracks lend themselves well to the style of gameplay associated with GH.
I can’t seriously believe people put Knickleback, Linkin Park and MAROON FREAKIN’ 5 up there. Maroon 5, really? Do they even use the eponymous instrument with any regularity in their music?

My personal thought is similar to Sharps. With a lot of great bands out there to just pick one doesn’t seem that simple when you break it down. Just have a look at some of the sheet music for some of those bands and there guitar ‘riffs’ Some are either very simple, or don’t stray from the bands style enough to make it that interesting. Which to me seems to be one of the problems with the Areosmith one.
So having said that, and putting all my personal favs aside. I think a great choice would have to be …….. Wait for it……………
Queen.
Now they have a library that truly goes from one end of the spectrum to the other. Just look at ” We Are The Champions” vs “Radio Ga Ga” Need I say more?
July 5th, 2008 at 9:16 pm
Guitar Hero: Limp Bizkit. Well…if there was, it would be a 5 dollar WiiWare download.
July 5th, 2008 at 9:18 pm
IRON MAIDEN FTW!!!
July 5th, 2008 at 9:19 pm
Bob Seger and the silver Bullet band

Red Hot Chili Peppers
Led Zeppelin

July 5th, 2008 at 9:52 pm

July 6th, 2008 at 12:28 am
Red hot chilli peppers
guns n’ roses
someone new for a change
i could go on for hours, but i think with those 3 you caatch my drift
July 6th, 2008 at 3:01 am
I’m definately getting the Metallica one, but I’d really rather them not devote each entire game to one band….I don’t want to listen to Aerosmith for hours on end, but I know I’m gonna enter tournaments where that is the game.
July 6th, 2008 at 4:34 am
Pearl Jam.
July 6th, 2008 at 5:06 am
The Rolling Stones
Wide variety of tracks
July 6th, 2008 at 8:44 am
Ween.
July 6th, 2008 at 10:57 am
Only one other person said Pearl Jam! Come on step it up. Who would not want to hear Alive, Dissident, Once, Do The Evolution, Animal, Deep, Corduroy, Lukin, and YELLOW LEDBETTER! Also, think about all the covers they play. The additional songs can the covers they do. The Who, Neil Young, The Ramons, Bob Dylan, The Avengers, Jimi Hendrix, Mother Love Bone, The Doors. There are a ton.
On a side note: maybe not a whole GH game but I would love to see some CKY get into the mix. Again, come on 96 Quite Bitter Being. That would be sweet to play!
July 6th, 2008 at 11:51 am
@Natrino’s earlier Nickleback comment: Very true. But listen to “Animals.” That’s a pretty good song.
July 6th, 2008 at 1:23 pm
Agree with many. Sabbath, Maiden, Zepplin, Who, Stones, Skynard, etc.
Need:
Judas Priest
Clash
Ramones
Deep Purple
And with some keyboard/synth hardware: Pink Floyd
July 7th, 2008 at 2:10 pm
IRON MAIDEN - for sure
July 7th, 2008 at 3:21 pm
Guitar Hero: Ska and Punk, with about 30% of the songs being covers of pop songs
Guitar Hero: Oldies, featuring Chuck Berry, Jerry Lee Lewis, James Brown, etc.
And for the bands that deserve their own game:
The Who
Led Zeppelin
The Kinks
Elvis
Queen
July 7th, 2008 at 3:42 pm
+
Bob Dylan
Bruce Springsteen
July 7th, 2008 at 5:37 pm
And Rush. How can we forget Rush?!?!?!?!?!?!
July 7th, 2008 at 6:50 pm
Queen FTW!
Wouldn’t mind some Boston, or Kansas either.
July 7th, 2008 at 7:44 pm
how about instead of a certain band, why don’t they choose a TYPE of music style, like rock, or punk, or hip hop. cuz choosing 1 band is too hard, and ppl have too many preferences
July 8th, 2008 at 4:26 am
Yeah, I’m with the people who think genre discs are a great idea.
July 8th, 2008 at 2:41 pm
Red Hot Chili Peppers
The Cure
Iron Maiden
Led Zeppelin
Black Sabbath
U2
The Beatles
Judas Priest
Queen
Eric Clapton (Yardbirds, Cream, Blind Faith, Derek and the Dominoes and solo)
