GamerNode lists top 5 third-party Wii games

Thursday, October 18th, 2007 at 11:56am by Blake

mohh21192592196.jpgGamerNode tries their hand at listing the best upcoming third-party games on Wii for the remainder of the year — I’m particularly interested in MoH 2 and nights.

  1. NiGHTS: Journey of Dreams, Sega (December 18)
  2. Resident Evil: Umbrella Chronicles, Capcom (November 13)
  3. Medal of Honor: Heroes 2, EA (November 13)
  4. Mario & Sonic at the Olympic Games, Sega (November 8 )
  5. Manhunt 2, Rockstar Games (October 29)

What third-party Wii games are you most excited for this holiday?

None of those. Well, maybe Nights.

    My List:
    Zack & Wiki
    Trauma Center New Blood

  2. ejamer says...

Definitely Medal of Honor 2: Heroes.

Although Resident Evil is a bigger name, the varied modes that have been promised for MoH (including an ambitious online multiplayer mode) are the selling point for me. If controls are half as good as early gameplay reports suggest, this will be a huge winner.

Um, so where is Zack & Wiki? Trauma Center? Soul Caliber: Legends? Raving Rabbids 2? Puzzle Quest? The Simpsons Game? Guitar Hero 3?

Too bad Wii is a novelty with no games! ;)

  3. Jared says...

    GHIII :P

  4. dlindema says...

Guitar Hero 3 and Zack and Wiki.

  5. Albo says...

Yeah, this list is wack-o. NiGHTS will surely be a letdown, RE is no fun according to most counts, and Mario & Sonic looks like the smelliest turd in the pipe. MoH and Manhunt should be pretty fun, but not having Zack & Wiki and GHIII on the list is a serious oversight.

  6. Derek B. says...

Trauma Center and Z-Dub for the win.

I’m getting Zack and Wiki next week, no doubt! MOH will be great if it doesn’t suck!

  8. exolstice says...

Buying all of those except for the Olympics.

  9. bOB says...

Looking forward to all of them but I don’t know which I will pick up. MoH2 seems like an excellent choice and NiGHTS will be good for December. Should be plenty to last me till smash brothers.

  10. Jibao009 says...

    Trauma Center New Blood

Zack and Wiki is the third partry game I want most right now. I’m still hoping Soul Calibur Legends and Umbrella Chronicles will be good, but I’ll wait for the reviews on those.

  12. InvisibleMan says...

Battalion Wars 2, which I’m intrigued as to why it is not on the list!

  13. Albo says...

InvisibleMan: And even more intrigued why Nintendo haven’t promoted it AT ALL! Last week they wouldn’t even let Kotaku and MTV play the thing for more than two minutes. Last week! And it comes out NEXT week! Really strange.

  14. Apok says...

Umm… BWii is published by Nintendo. Therefore not 3rd Party.

  15. raindog469 says...

While I’m looking forward to Zack and Wiki, it seems to me that the most important 3rd party Wii game by far this xmas is going to be Guitar Hero III.

Sure, it’s cross-platform, but I see a lot of overlap between the sort of people who’d like GH3 and the sort of people Nintendo has been selling the Wii to in the last year (not pensioners, that is, but people with family and/or friends.)

  16. Sakuragi says...

Sadly(for my wallet of course) i´ll buy all those games, +a lot more, i think that i´ll buy at least 10 from here to years end, and next year will start fast too, since i want Wii Fit, Smash and No More Heroes, and Mario Kart Wii from day one.

Yeah, thw Wii is a fad, i´t´ll burst anytime now…shesh

    My list:

    1. Zack and Wiki
    2. Mercury Meltdown
    3. RE Umbrella Chronicles
    4. Medal of Honor
    5. Trauma Center 2

The 3rd party games I won now are Trauma Center 1, Resident Evil 4 and MK Armageddon, and I loved all 3. I just wish more developers took the time and effort to make games as polished and fun as these.

  18. pjlucky says...

It’s great to see Zack & Wiki getting some Infendo Love.
    Z-dub and RE:UC for me.

  19. KonohaShinobi says...

I am still pissed about RE5 not being available for the Wii even AFTER Resident Evil 4 Wii Edition felt so damn good! RE:UC will surely disappoint and definitely not feel the void that is RE5 and RE4. MOH is the only thing I care about on that particular list.

  20. gojiguy says...

Godzilla: Unleashed deserves some mention here. It is one of the rare third party Wii titles (let alone a fighting game) built 100% ground-up for the Wii that actually looks like a Wii game should it has the best 3rd party graphics on the Wii and the controls are not “re-mapped to the Wiimote” they were “Built ground up with the Wiimote and nunchuk as the central focus”. The controls are apparently pretty tight, too (unlike past Wii games, this one went through rigorous control testing and public demoing). This is technically the Wii’s first fighting game (don’t get me wrong, DBZ, MK, and Guilty Gear rock, they were ports, though) and is shaping up to a killer title.

  21. neko to kuruma says...

GHIII. I already have half payed off, and since it’s $10 less than the other versions I’ll probably use that to get a faceplate for the controller.

  22. srkelley says...

    My Top 5
    Fire Emblem: Radiant Dawn
    Trauma Center: New Blood
Zak & Wiki: Quest for Barbaros’s Treasure
    MX vs. ATV Untamed
    Naruto Clash of Ninja Revolution

The rest are games I’m interested in, and they’re all in in no particular order except for the last one.

    Soul Calibur Legends
    Super Mario Galaxy
    Nitrobike
    Super Swing Golf 2
    DBZ: Tenkaichi 3
    Guilty Gear: Accent Core
    Geometry Wars: Galaxies
    Nights: Journey of Dreams
DragonQuest Swords: The Masked Queen and the Tower of Mirrors
    Guitar Hero III
    Some WWII shooter
