Eurogamer lauds Mario Galaxy in early preview

From the preview: When Shigeru Miyamoto suggested this week that games should be fun, it was easy to snigger and accuse him of stating the obvious. But Super Mario Galaxy proves his point to perfection: it’s amazingly, dizzyingly, idiotically fun, in a way few games are these days. We’re not going to call it a classic Mario yet - we simply haven’t seen enough of the game to make that call… but we are going to predict that it will plaster millions of big smiles on millions of faces come November.

I can’t remember the last time I was this excited for a Mario game. I was one of the naysayers on last year’s New Super Mario Bros. for DS (and was admitingly wrong cause it’s a pleasant game!). Having tasted the Galaxy goods at E3 this year, I’m overjoyed ’cause Galaxy is crazy! CRAZY I tell ya.

    “this game has seen”

Sorry, as i said, i´m overhyped heheh.

Super Mario Galaxy and Metroid Prime 3 Corruption: the two reasons you bought a Wii.

More like, “Zelda TP, Mario Strikers Charged, Super Smash Bros. Brawl, Super Mario Galaxy, and Metriod Prime 3: Corruption…: the five plus reasons you bought a Wii.” ;)

Add Wii Sports to that list!

I really do not believe that the “reasons” to get a Wii can be narrowed to such a little list, i´ve played many games and overall i´ve had a lot of fun, how could you forget trauma center? paper mario? godfather with motion controls? i can keep going but long story short, i think the arguments of a drought are not valid any more, specially after this holiday season.

I quite liked the idea of New Super Mario Bros. Until I played it. It felt and played like a Super Mario Bros. tribute band - and failed.

Deffo looking forward to SMG though. Looks like the most innovative and fun title I’ve seen in a long time.

    Correction:

Super Mario Galaxy and Metroid Prime 3 Corruption: the two reasons I bought a Wii!

    ;)

(Oh, and I would certainly include Wii Sports to my personal list, but since it came bundled with my Wii, it was more like a nice surprise!)

I was a bit skeptical when I first saw Super Mario Galaxy screenshots. “Could it really be that fun”, I wondered. Everyone who has played a demo of the game says “yes”! I can’t wait to get my grubby little paws on it.

Don’t forget Battalion Wars. I’m excited for the online aspect of that game. I think it’s mandatory for a Nintendo fan to be excited about a Mario, Metroid or Zelda game. And I’m EXCITED!

New Super Mario Bros is the best Mario game in a long time (IMHO). I played through and got 3 stars on two files ;-)

Nintendo knows exactly what they are doing. Release great games, throughout the year, keep the Wii-hype strong, keep selling systems… I can’t wait for Mario Galaxy this November 12th. Revolutionary game on the ‘Revolution’ system. It will keep the Wii selling throughout the holiday season into 2008.

Yeah, I think Nintendo has been successfully climbing their way back to the top. Lookout Sony!

  15. Fairlady Z says...

I’m pumped for this game. It’s going to be… STELLAR. LOLOLOLZ.

I am also having a good chuckle at how much Sony is eating it this generation.

  16. Derek B. says...

GOTY. And I haven’t even played it yet. :)

The game does look phenomenal. It looks like Nintendo is hitting homeruns with all of their big franchises so far on Wii…the new Zelda is fantastic, the new Metroid looks to be even better, and the new Mario will probably blow them both away.

And yet people still ask for reasons to buy a Wii?

  17. KillerHeroes says...

Metroid Prime 3 received a 10/10 from Nintendo Power.

If Galaxy plays anywhere close to as good as New Super Mario Bros played then I’ll be very happy.
