SAN FRANCISCO - March 31, 2008 - Today Ubisoft, one of the world’s largest video game publishers, announced that it will publish Emergency Heroes exclusively on the Wii(TM) home video game system from Nintendo. Developed by Ubisoft Reflections and Ubisoft Barcelona, Emergency Heroes is an open world rescue driving game. Young rescuers can jump into 16 different variations of next-generation rescue vehicles as a police officer, firefighter or EMT and navigate through the sprawling streets of San Alto, keeping citizens safe along the way. Emergency Heroes will be available in North America in May 2008.
Key Features:
• Drive the next generation of rescue vehicles. Pilot and command numerous hi-tech rescue vehicles designed specifically for ultra-high-risk, high-speed navigation. Choose between police, fire and EMT vehicles.
• Explore and protect the entire city. As an emergency hero, your mission is to protect the peaceful city of San Alto. Drive through stunning free-roaming open environments, rescuing the city from imminent danger at every turn.
• Two Player Co-Op. Challenge your friends or combine forces to form the ultimate rescue hero team to protect your city.
• Fun for the whole family. Making full use of the Wii Remote(TM), everyone in the family can enjoy being an emergency hero.
• Fast-action gameplay. Take advantage of Hero Mode and play like you mean it - the faster you drive, the faster you rise and gain access to powers of invincibility.
No online, eh?

humm…
Could be good, if they get it right.
Open worlds is a good start.
The visuals are a little poor, but it coul be an early screenshot.
Maybe we are seeing a GOOD third party Wii game?
Lets hope so.

Looks interesting, actually.

So is this the anti-No More Heroes?

Could be good unless they make it to… Kiddie and I’m not talking casual simple gameplay. I’m talking about giving it the feel and quality of a Saturday morning cartoon. (EEeek) But im really liking the base-idea. Crankdown meets Thunderbirds!!! Either way if it isn’t something that i could enjoy like what I’m hoping for the co-op sounds like something my brother and i would have tons o fun with… That is as long as the core gameplay works who cares about setting and story… Steering of vehicles and size of this “free roamable” city comes to mind.

Could be a lot of fun. Sounds crazy taxi-esque. Here’s hoping for another original, 3rd party Wii game.

I’m still waiting for Ubisoft to make good on that “Nintendo-like quality” promise.

Rushli0n: lol
this could be good, but seeing as they mention “fast-action gameplay” i hope they actually manage to throw in the sensation of travelling fast (Burnout 3 is a good example)

That screenshot is a lot more flattering than everything else I’ve seen of this game.

At least it appears to sport volumetric shadowing. Despite it being a fairly standard effect in even the earliest PS2 games, it’s made its way into scarcely any Wii games.

Emergency Mayhem?

I think it looks pretty cool!

I’m loving the premise of this game. As for the graphics, the car I can deal with, I actually like how it looks, but the textures on everything else is meh. This is more than likely just a very early screen shot.

Ha, I love how everyone’s already an expert on the graphics just from one screenshot. How about waiting ’til the game comes OUT before you make calls on it? Sounds like a good idea. Also, sometimes I feel like I’m the only one that can look past graphics and focus on gameplay. I feel sorry for people that can’t.

hmm… actually, everything besides the players car looks kinda “meh”. You can see a german trailer at Ubisoft-tv, use the following link:

Well, it might play like some free-roaming blast corps. …and that would be awesome.

Oh oh, just noticed the text. it says: “…to deliver racing action for the expections and skills of a 6 to 10 yeah old boy” so, nothing for me.

Yeah the trailer looks craptatstic…
April 1st, 2008 at 2:47 pm
But how will it play?

Rabbitduck: It’s true, graphics aren’t everything. But the Wii is capable of some very attractive visuals, so when a developer takes the lazy route and skimps on the visuals of a given effort, said effort should be held suspect. For example, what else did they take shortcuts on?
It’s an unfortunate pattern, but it has certainly emerged over the course of the Wii lifespan. I’d argue we’re not focusing on graphics. We’re merely pointing out that ugly graphics suggest a lazy developer, which leads to severely poopski Wii games.
