Wii U system update adds Quick Start menu and more

090-Wii U Quick Start Menu UpdateA new Wii U update that Nintendo President Satoru Iwata promised a few months ago is now available; the update adds the quick start menu to the Wii U, which will show the user’s 10 most recently used games or other software right when the Wii U boots up.

The update also improves “user settings and selection experience,” allows system updates to be downloaded in standby mode, offers “full-screen alerts and notifications on [the] Wii U GamePad” (these settings can be adjusted), and makes it easier to set up Nintendo Network IDs.

If you have already downloaded the update, how are you finding it? Leave a comment below letting us know.

In addition to being a girl gamer, Holly prides herself on being a red-head. Consequently, the blue shell in the Mario Kart series is her natural enemy. Don't worry, though: she still loves Mario Kart and is very good, despite the occasional blue shell-sabotaged race. Like any Nintendo fan, Holly also loves Zelda, Pokemon, Mario, Donkey Kong, Metroid, Kirby...you name it. But she'll try just about anything (besides horror games) and has a soft spot for unique, little-known rhythm games like Rhythm Heaven and Samba de Amigo. NNID: Aeroweth
