Wii Shop Channel Monday – LIT and MERCS

Alright, I gotta admit it: LIT looks like a lot of fun. Hopefull the trailer does it justice and the game is really survival horror with a dash of humor. Over on the Virtual Console we move off of the Sega Master System and over to the Genesis with MERCS. So, like, why don’t we see any more classic Nintendo console based games on the VC anymore?
Full details of this week’s games after the break.
WiiWare
LIT (WayForward Technologies, 1 player, Rated E10+ for Everyone 10 and Older—Violence, 800 Wii Points): Dark creatures have taken over Jake’s high school, and it’s up to you to guide him through each classroom in order to be reunited with his girlfriend Rachael. Existing light sources must be used smartly to create bridges of light for Jake to cross. One false step and Jake gets pulled into the darkness. Along the way he’ll encounter twisted versions of his school’s faculty, which must be battled in order to advance. LIT is a horror/puzzle game that requires the Wii Remote and Nunchuk controllers. It contains 30 levels, five boss battles, replay modes and several unlockables, including multiple endings, Dark Mode timed challenges and an unlockable character.
Virtual Console
Wolf of the Battlefield: MERCS (SEGA GENESIS, 1 player, Rated E10+ for Everyone 10 and Older—Mild Violence, 800 Wii Points): Following a rash of terrorism outbreaks and increasing opposition from guerilla fighters, the U.S. government has decided to hire a group of professional mercenaries to undergo secret missions, battling through enemy lines to go where no ordinary soldier would dare to go. Based on the popular arcade game, the SEGA GENESIS version of MERCS lets you play as a MERC and also adds an original mode, allowing players to choose from five different characters. Take no prisoners as you shoot, drive jeeps and tanks, and clash against huge bosses to accomplish your mission.

Where is Majoras Mask, Yoshi’s Island, Donkey Kong 64, and Earthbound?

@Ninjaluke84
I think Nintendo is holding off on those releases (and some more other greats as well) for when the Wii’s sales start slowing down. The problem is that the Wii’s sales aren’t slowing down. It might be a while before we see some of these titles.
As to this weeks releases, I’m not usually a fan of horror games, but this LIT game looks kind of interesting. I like the idea of combing a horror game with a puzzle game. I don’t know if I’ll get it, but at least it’s something to consider.

Do I just not pay close enough attention or do a lot of companies not announce their wiiware titles before they get released, lit looks pretty col and could get totally ignored because no ones ever herd of it till now.

I agree with you but I just am getting tired of waiting for Nintendo to start releasing 1st party VC titles especially Majoras Mask. Maybe after they update the wii so that we can play off the SD card they might release one due to the fact that a lot of us dont have many blocks left. I love Nintendo but it just seems like they are laying back and letting the 3rd parties take over for a little while. I know they are working on Pikmin Zelda and Mario but I love 1st party games and just cant wait for the next one.

I agree. I have been pretty disappointed lately with the VC offerings. I would love to see Nintendo release one of their bigger hits.

where is mario party? today is its 10th year anniversary? can they not make it because donkey kong is in it and he’s owned by rare which works for microsoft now?

@ff
Nintendo still owns Donkey Kong. Nintendo has the rights to Donkey Kong and even Rare/Nintendo’s Donkey Kong Country. I dont know why we havent seen any Mario Party’s.
