We’re Number One – top sellers for the week

Friday, June 22nd, 2007 at 10:29am by David

re4wiiboxart.jpgHere are the number one Wii and DS games sold around the world this week:

Wii
North America: Resident Evil 4: Wii Edition
Japan: Wii Sports
UK: Wii Play

DS
North America: Pokemon Diamond
Japan: Itadaki Street DS
UK: Dr. Kawashima’s Brain Training

Something cool to note is the number one DS game in Japan, Itadaki Street DS. It’s apparently a Monopoly-style boardgame, but this edition features Dragon Quest and Super Mario characters. It’s the first Mario-based game not published by Nintendo since Hotel Mario on the Philips CD-i in 1994. (SSX On Tour doesn’t really count since he was just an unlockable character.)

Anyone pick up RE4: Wii? Let us know what you think in comments.

I picked it up last night after work, but I didn’t actually get to play it yet. Luckily it’s the weekend, so after work today. I’m definitely going to need some spare batteries. According to Gamasutra, the game has averaged a 92% across the board in multiple publications in Japan and the US. For only $30 though, how can you really go wrong? I really can’t wait for Umbrella Chronicles, though. Kinda makes me hope that Sega will add House of the Dead 4 on that list with Ghost Hunters.

Interesting, I’d have thought Mario Strikers Charged would be the biggun for the UK this week, looks like Wii Play has taken over again.

Its not that Wii Play has taken over. The Reason Mario Strikers Charged Football isn’t the top seller in UK is because it is out of stock everywhere you go.

I still need to buy Resident Evil 4 , its said the Wii version is the true collectors edition , lots of gaming websites are still praising this game and giving it a high or near perfect score , the only reason it didnt get a perfect score is because is a 2 year old game..

its amazing how much hype Resident Evil 4 is generating, I cant remember another game being so popular other than RE4 after 2 years of its realease…

I missed the Game Cube version so the Ps2’s , after I buy this game it will be as fresh as it was from day one.

I bought RE4 and played it for the first time on any system last night. Did anyone else find that first part extremely difficult to get past when you first played this game???

I only played the first 15 min or so…but man, you have 10 bullets and like 20 or so “non-zombie” people running around. The game looks and feels good, I just need to get used to the game.

  6. Balam says...

RE4:Wii is the definitive version without a doubt. It has better graphics than the PS2 and PC versions, it has all the PS2 extras and it supports the GC and classic controllers.

Rushli0n, I hear you on that one.

I like the game so far way better then the other Resident Evils it really gets crazy when you got a bunch of guys coming after and your pointing the wii mote and lose and start panicking and get killed.

  8. Miguel says...

RE4:Wii is perfect, better than pizza.

  9. Albo says...

Rushlion – I had the exact same experience. It took me a really long time (and almost giving up on the game in frustration) to get through that very first part. The sequence ends before you kill all the zombies, but I’m not sure what actually triggers it… Being holed up in that house might help.

  10. EdEN says...

You’re not supposed to fight the enemies in the 1st part. You have to get into the house, kill the enemie after the cutscene, block the door, get to the 2nd floor, break the window that leads to a roof-top and just kick down ladders or kill the few enemies that do make it up there… and wait for the TIME-BASED cutscene that sends all the enemies away.

As another option, you can make a run for it into the loooon ladder that leads to the bell and try to wait for the cutscene there… just be careful of any dynamite thrown your way.

I’ve been trying to get RE4 for Wii since Tue. Now I understand it not being at any stores on Tue (shipping date) but no stores near me has received Re4:Wii yet (I am going to try again later today), has anyone else had this problem?

  12. Rushli0n says...

EdEN – Well I might have to give that a try. I just jumped through the first window I saw which led me to the ground. I killed another local and walked into a town where there were like 20 of them. You get to “look” at them via a pair of binoculars but otherwise I was pretty much smoked.

Is there another window that you can jump out of after that first cutscene?

  13. Fank says...

Holy crap. Europe. THE biggest market. Yet no one seems to care how games sell there, just the UK. I will never get people. Really. Wow.

  14. Jared says...

heehee, you can use a classic controller on the wii version to play using “gamecube” controls a la laser pointer

  15. KillerHeroes says...

This Resident Evil 4 edition is definitely the definitive one. It supports 16:9 widescreen, 480p, has the (better) GameCube graphics, all the PS2 extras, plus a control system that’s more involving.

  16. DeathChronx says...

I got RE4 for Gamecube the first day it came out. Then I didn’t hesitate to get it for the Ps2, and Now FOR SURE I’m going to buy this for the Wii. It’s how the game was Meant to be played! Darnit I can’t wait! Even though I’ve beating this game almost a million times, I just can’t stop playing it! lol

  17. Brian says...

Man, I really didn’t want to purchase the same game tiwce-ish, but you guys have me really interested!

  18. Brian says...

that was supposed to be twice-ish… that’s what I get for trying to make up new words!
