If you haven’t made any New Year’s resolutions yet, allow Nintendo to suggest a few: pop more bubbles, battle more medieval beasts and try to save the universe a little more often. New releases for New Year’s Eve:
Bubble Bobble - NES - 1988 - 500 Wii Points
Bubble Bobble’s release in 1986 introduced the two bubble dragons, Bub and Bob, and brand new play mechanics, with players defeating enemies by trapping them in bubbles and then popping them. (Developed by Taito)
Light Crusader - Genesis - 1995 - 800 Wii Points
Each day, more good townspeople of Green Row have been mysteriously disappearing, and beleaguered King Weeden summons the knight Sir David to investigate. Armed with his wits and his sword, Sir David must find the cause of this strange evil and save the citizens of Green Row before things get any worse. (Developed by Treasure)
Top Hunter - NEOGEO - 1994 - 900 Wii Points
Take on the role of either Roddy or Cathy, bounty hunters in this side-scrolling action game set far in the future when humans have colonized space. Can you prove yourself worthy of the Top Hunter name and help save the universe? (Developed by SNK)

is bubble bobble really worth the five dollar price tag?? thats the question i am asking myself. It was huge game when i was a kid. and i remember pummeling through it with my little brother. But is it really worth a replay?? i still have the cartridge but no NES. so is it worth having on my home console for which i can try to convince my significant other to accompany me into the caves of monsters?

Opinions will always vary, but I think that Bubble Bobble is definitely worth the price of admission. A great two-player game, over one hundred levels to play though, tons of hidden secrets… all for $5? This is one of the VC titles I’ve been waiting for, and it’s great to see it finally arrive on the Wii.

My wife has been waiting all year for bubble bobble. Every weeek .. . “is Bubble Bobble out yet? How ’bout now? Can we play Bubble Bobble?” GahhhH!!! Thanks Nintendo, took long enough! I was going crazy! Now can you just release Pilot Wings 64, so I can stop annoying her?

My girlfriend and I love Bubble Bobble. This is the one we’ve been waiting for on the VC since her NES won’t let us play any game for more than a few minutes before freezing. We’ve already ripped through the game two times - and yes, the *whole* way through. Great purchase.

Bubble bobble FTW! Samurai would be nice also but I’m not ready to look the monstrous horse that is Nintendo in the mouth.

Mmm, bubble bobble. A worthy title for my collection.

Bubble Bobble is worth that much easily. That NES Bubble Bobble cartridge you are talking about can be sold on eBay for more than what you’ll pay on the VC.
