Game Changer: Wii Fit sells 90 units per minute in U.K.

This really shouldn’t surprise anyone, but the Wii Fit is selling 90 units per minute in the UK store Woolworth’s.
“This is a revolution in computer gaming. For a game not targeted at gamers to sell in numbers like this is unheard of and is genuinely changing the market,” said Woolworths games trading manager Gerry Berkley.
I’ve got mine pre-ordered, and from the sounds of it several Infendo readers do as well. I see no reason why this peripheral won’t explode onto the scene in North America just has it done in the UK and Japan. A caveat, however, if I may. It will be interesting to see what happens with Wii Fit after the initial sales die down. Reggie vaguely promised that 10 games were in development for Wii Fit the Wii Balance Board. We’ll see if that’s true, and when.

I think it’s really important for people to keep in mind that this game isn’t going to cure America’s obesity “epidemic.” I plan on getting Wii Fit, first and foremost because the games look fun. If I shed a few pounds in the process, then Huzzah to me.
Anyone in the mindset that this game is designed to whip people into shape are setting themselves up for disappointment. Miyamoto himself has said that he doesn’t think “Wii Fit’s purpose is to make you fit; what it’s actually aiming to do is make you aware of your body.”
This is not a workout tool. It is a video game that forces activity. As long as the masses remember that, then this game is going to be a big hit.

After a WiiFit demonstration on Good Morning America, sales on Amazon shot up over 700,000% percent. I think it just might be a tad popular.

Pre-bought….looking for it to energize and get me back into working out regularly. Not looking for it to be a miracle, but at least keep me motivated.
And isn’t it 10 games being made for the Balance Board…not Wii Fit?

I might get this for my family. My mom works out with those tv shows sometimes, this would be a lot easier than that.

meh….
I will spend my money on games, and not this non game plastic thing….
But , if it gets people together to have some fun on the Wii, there is nothing wrong with that.
Not for me

actually, reggie says internal balance board development will depend on sales of the board, though i think a few million sales in each country are enough to make it worth the trouble. hopefully third parties wont drop their current development like EA did with head tracking, for no reason at all

I know its gonna make a hole in my wallet, but I’m damn lazy to exercise and I gotta lose pounds, and besides DDR, I think this is the best thing coming out from Nintendo. I’m really looking forward to own a one!!
