Professional and casual Smash Bros. fans rejoice! Series creator and designer Masahiro Sakurai has confirmed that the often criticized tripping feature from Super Smash Bros. Brawl will not be featured in the WiiU/3DS sequel. Speaking with Kotaku through a translator, Sakurai reassured fans that tripping is now an afterthought: “To answer quite frankly, it will not return.”

For those who are uniformed, tripping in Smash Bros. is when your character runs, stumbles, falls, and is temporarily stunned. The feature added many frustrating moments for players who thought its inclusion was cheap or unnecessary. for video evidence of this feature click here.

Farewell tripping feature. You will certainly not be missed.
