Trailer – Final Fantasy Tactics A2

Final Fantasy Tactics Advance 2: The Sealed Grimoire is released today. The game seems to be totally overhauled from it’s Game Boy Advance predecessor, featuring various different features. Most notably is the top screen which always gives you a time line of which characters will be going next, and the many new classes to master. Although the one thing I did notice was that the character sprites seem to have gotten smaller and have less detail then the previous iteration of the game. Anyone picking this one up today or anytime soon?

I don’t know how I feel about this one. I recently played through FF:TA on my GameBoy recently, and this game looks nearly identical. Nicer graphics, though, and some interesting new classes and species. However, I think it’s too much like its predecessor, so no buy for me.
I also heard that the viera class only got only 2 new classes. They’re my favorite, and they only get 2??? Lame!

That’s a lot of featured features! I kid
Anyway, I’m afraid to pick this one up because it looks just like FF:Tactics on the PS1 graphics wise (heck it almost looks like they’re taken straight from it.) That game already stopped recording my playtime after 100 hours and this one seems to have more content! Heck, I’m not even done leveling up Cloud yet on that one! Though I did beat the game, it’s probably one of the few RPGs where I actually don’t mind the grind to make my peeps stronger because of wanting to unlock all the classes for a certain character.
I’ll wait for a few reviews but it’ll most likely be a buy for me, the mechanics are sweet.

I get paid this week, so hopefully I’ll have enough for this game. I’m so pumped about it.

The character sprites are probably smaller if camera is zoomed out to see more of the map. While the sprites aren’t a big graphical improvement, the skill and spell effects are definitely better than its predecessor.
I am actually very pleased with all the improvements. The game has so many changes to the mechanics that this game is real sequel and not simply an minor evolution from FFTA.

This game is certainly not ‘totally overhauled from it’s Game Boy Advance predecessor’, but that’s actually a good thing. Yes, they added some new features and the top screen functionality, but it’s pretty much the same game as it was. They didn’t even bother calling it Final Fantasy Tactics DS… they just went with Final Fantasy Tactics Advanced 2 (Advanced as in Game Boy Advance.) They toned down the law system a bit, the graphics look a bit better, and the menus look a bit cleaner. At least this one doesn’t start with a snowball fight!
So far so good though. Recommended for any strategy/tactics fan.
velops – I don’t know how you can say there are so many changes to the mechanics to the game… the mechanics are exactly the same as in the last game, just more classes and abilities added to them.
