The DS lives! Aliens: Infestation is a new game for Nintendo’s last generation portable

Although Nintendo has a new portable with fancy stereoscopic 3D, there are still developers who want a chunk of the 147 million DS pie. This September, WayForward Technologies will release a new game based on the Aliens franchise for Nintendo’s aging portable giving the Nintendo DS a breath of fresh air.

Aliens: Infestation is a side-scrolling action title being published by Sega, and will feature a large selection of weapons and tools from the Aliens series. Sega is saying that there will be an upgrade and collectible system, making the the title sound like it will have a Metroid-vania feel to it.

Given the pedigree of WayForward, Aliens: Infestation is a title that deserves a look when it finally releases this fall. Head past the break to check out a few more screens of the game.

Great! Now I need to re-buy a DS. I wish this had been a Wii farewell, since I have been trying to get them to put this http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=iQRl595T91M&feature=fvwrel on the Wii forever. I even had some company reps tell me they would consider it if enough people expressed their interest.

My DSLite will never die! Being able to play GBA plus DS games means I will likely never run out of quality titles. I can’t wait for GameStop (et al) to start discounting DS games as there are many I still need to pick up.

    Well.

It’s by WayForward, so I’m looking forward to it. Just hope they don’t make it a reskinned Contra 4…

I played this game at the San Diego Comic-Con and it was a completely unfinished mess. There were no aliens to fight at all, just empty rooms to walk through. All character dialogue was just an identical error message… something like “String data not found”. I can’t even imagine why they would let people demo it in a state like that!
