*thinks Poochy failed at history and in life* Language always changes. Nothing stays the same. Also you’re online. The internet changes and comes up with new meanings and ways to use words. The language on/in/around the internet isn’t the language you read/see/hear in textbooks and your white elitist stupid parties. Grammar is shit that schools and societies made up to brain wash pathetic human minds into conforming. Go get a life, your own mind, and stop harassing the internet.

I agree with ResidentialEvil, most video game ads are infamous for having horrid pictures of people playing the games, so I wouldn’t make a big deal out of those made for the Wii. I’ve seen some pretty bad (Good God awful) ads for the PS3. Some of the ads for the PS3 console would make anyone go WTF?! They had one with a baby doll crying. It was so creepy it made me avoid the PS3 altogether.

“Fail” never was funny.

Poochy, this isn’t “another video game journalist who refuses to grow up and take his job seriously.” There’s no journalist here. Just a blogger. There’s a world of difference. A journalist gets paid to write real stories. A blogger has too much time and an empty web page and has to come up with some inane drivel to fill it. Sometimes this results in genius. Other times, like this…. not so much!

The idea that there are “obvious” paedophiliac overtones to the cross generational picture is pretty offensive. This is the kind of attitude that is gonna make it almost impossible for an adult to play innocently with a child pretty soon. Any normal person would not feel paedophile tendencies in this situation… but then a normal person wouldn’t see them as “obvious” either.

To be fair….most video game advertisements where they show people playing are usually horrible. Usually they are doing too much with the controller; random fast button mashing, twisting the controller around. Nothing ever looks realistic.

Take it chill man, this article is meant to be a joke and you’re being way to serous about it. Saying fail as a noun is meant is meant top be funny (as is “epic fail” on aots) it would be out of place in a serous article, but here it really doesn’t matter that much.

I wonder whether it’s just me or player’s facial expression is not related to the system used. These guys overdo it so much, but I guess this is the point of advertising.

@anti-FAIL committee: languages tend to develop (since it’s not Latin). Now “fail” has become a noun, and, well, it’s not a big deal. Last year they invented a new Russian word for salutation (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Preved). It was actually used by mass media, but nobody died. Like “fail”, the word became repetitive and its appeal wore thin quite quickly.
I doubt if anyone doesn’t see the difference between formal and informal language (Blake?). Don’t panic.

It’s interesting to see that even though we are from different countries, we are both annoyed when people misuse words or mixing certain words with words from other languages incorrectly. @Poochy: I couldn’t agree more! Sayings such as “it owns” and “epic fail” is idiotic and pathetic!! Kids in Sweden use bad English to destroy Swedish. It saddens me. For example: They often say the Swedish word “orka” (to answer a question) which could be translated into “don’t have the strength to do it” because I don’t find a matching word in English. Also, people say “team” instead of the Swedish word “lag”. They also add “et” to “teamet” mixing Swedish and English in an incorrect way. They also say “shoppa” (shop and shopping in English) just to make themselves sound cooler. The Swedish word “handla” is what they should be using. I use it. I met a friend from work recently in the super market here in Sweden and she asked me (in Swedish but I translated the Swedish for you)): – “Are you going to shoppa?” I said: – “No, I’m going to handla.” She didn’t give me any comments on that. Anyway, English isn’t my native language but I do share your thoughts, Poochy. I’m glad I’m not alone!! Most people don’t seem to care about proper language. Take care, Poochy!
