Legend of Zelda: Ocarina of Time was my first exposure to the series, and I immediately fell in love with it. It is also the first Zelda game I have ever completed, aside from Oracle of Seasons. The combat system and gameplay were amazing, the story was unforgettable, immersive, compelling, and simply fantastic and the sheer size of Hyrule was very impressive. In addition, the free-roaming aspect of the game was a great innovation, where there was very little limitations to where you could go, with the exception of Gerudo Valley, of course. And I have to agree, Nintendo needs to make an Ocarina of Time port for the DS to expose to new gamers. It would be cool if they could provide the original and Master Quest versions in either one cartridge or sold separately for all of us hard-core gamers. I would really like to see how they would use the touch screen for the game, perhaps taking a hint from Phantom Hourglass and using that for the OoT remake. Either way, Nintendo did everything right with OoT, and it is one of the few games that I enjoy playing over and over again, just to relive the story. Truly a memorable and unforgettable game that is one I will look fondly back upon for the rest of my life.

Definitley the best game of all time! the story was so gripping and the game had a bit of everything with its side quests. I loved the combat system...you felt like you could really control every movement link!

There are so many great moments in OOT its kinda to decide...but for spine tingling greatness it would have to be when link pulls out the master sword for the first time and sees himself as an adult! He really looked like a hero this time...the hero of time. In other words he looked badass!

agree 10000% with everything that was said, i too feel that they'll never produce anything close to the way that game made me feel ever again, yet i still expect from every zelda game. Honestly if they're not going to deliver like ocarina every time and fail like they did in TP then stick to wind waker-esque productions, that game is 2nd on my list of favourite zelda games

i especially remember...
***Spoiler Alert***
in the end cutscene where link and zelda are up in the clouds and she has you give the ocarina back to her, i had grown emotionally attached to that thing and i was like "nooo...." and then when Navi floats away, never to be seen again... *sob*
***End Spoiler Alert***

What about when Sheik meets Link in the mini-dungouen in Zora's Domain where he gets the Iron Boots and she tells him something along the lines of: "...time moves along like a river and friends change themselves, sometimes to be lost...".

Great article.

I totally agree with number 7 as well as number 2. It doesn't happen often that I get emotionally attached to a video game but Ocarina of Time certainly was an unique experience. (I experienced the same emotions in Wind Waker when the true person behind the red boat was revealed and when the castle turned black and white.)

One of my favorite moments is when you fight an Iron Knuckle for the first time. If not that then the part where you fight two of them at the same time in Ganon's Castle.
