For us, Ultimate Band was a best-in-show among the E3′s Rock Band wannabes. That’s a backhanded compliment, but for its intended 8 to 12 demographic, this game is brilliant. It scales up smoothly from simple to complex gameplay and faithfully captures the spirit of a rock performance. It’s also a much cheaper alternative to buying a slew of new instruments, or watching in horror as your existing peripherals are gradually torn apart by tiny hands.

With exception to the “frontman” controls, this game looks pretty fun. I’m suppose to preview it in Salt Lake sometime soon, so I’ll let you know when I do.
