Call me crazy, but I love me some JRPGs. If given the choice, I prefer to play them from the comfort of my own bed on my handheld of choice. That’s why Kingdom Hearts 3D: Dream Drop Distance is so appealing to me, even though I am a little late to the whole Kingdom Hearts bandwagon. I have never experienced the PS2 originals, with my only time spent with the franchise being on my trusty AGS-101 and Kingdom Hearts: Chain of Memories.

It has occurred to me that I probably should go back and play at least the two numbered Kingdom Hearts titles before going on the play Dream Drop Distance, but I’m not sure that will exactly happen. Maybe I will wait for the inevitable HD remakes that seem to be all the craze nowadays. One this is certain however: even without the backstory gained from playing previous titles in the series, Kingdom Hearts 3D is looking like it will class up 3DSs everywhere when it launches later next year.

Despite being a spin-off of a franchise that hasn’t been good for years (yeah, I went there), I can’t help but be excited about the Final Fantasy rhythm title Theatrhythm. Square-Enix has released a new trailer for the title to help everyone understand exactly how the games mechanics work, and I must say that this game is looking to be rather awesome.

I have always liked that music from the Final Fantasy series, and having all the best tracks in one title should be a fantastic experience for those who enjoy a good rhythm title. Look for the game sometime next year.

Bravely Default Flying Fairy looks to be one of the best looking games this side of the 3DS

Bravely Default Flying Fairy has is of the strangest names to ever dawn a video game in a long time. With a name like that, it’s a good thing the game looks so beautiful. Don’t believe me? Square-Enix has released a few video shorts demonstrating just how their new title will be pushing the 3DS to the limits. If anything about the title can be said, it is that it will be fantastic to look at.

Nothing has been said release-wise about Bravely Default, but hopefully we will be playing the game sometime next year. Hit the jump two watch two more videos in all their Flying Fairy glory. (more…)

I have absolutely no idea what Sora and Co. are saying in this trailer, but I can just imagine would it would be like in 3D! In all seriousness, it is about time a proper Kingdom Hearts title is arrives on a Nintendo console, and with the 3DS, it looks like there will be some interesting things going on.

For one, it looks like the game will be implementing AR of some sort which is always a good thing. One of my favorite games on 3DS is still AR Games and I can’t wait to see what clever developers can do with the technology. Also, the game has Quasimodo, and anything that has him has my stamp of aproval.

Looks like the 3DS is in for yet another great RPG…now it’s just a matter of when. Kingdom Hearts 3D Dream Drop Distance has no release date as of yet for all the English speakers among us, but it is scheduled to drop in Japan next spring.
