A few weeks ago I met with Aubrey, who is a Product Manager at SouthPeak Games, and she gave me a run down on everything Dementium II.

If anyone remembers the first game Demetium: the ward, which was released during Halloween of 2007, it was the first attempt at bringing horror style gaming to the hand held market. Built around a first person engine, Demetium focused on grit, gore, mystery and brief, full-motion video clips, of various grotesque monstrosities roaming the blood stained hallways of some institution. SouthPeak releases Roogoo box art, screens

SouthPeak Games today released screens and official box art for its upcoming Roogoo games for Nintendo platforms — Twisted Towers on Wii and Attack! on Nintendo DS. Both are due to release this year.

Developed by SpiderMonk Entertainment, Roogoo first appeared last June as a $10.00 downloadable Xbox Live Arcade and Windows title. A simple puzzle game, the objective of Roogoo is to guide various falling shapes through matching holes in a series of rotating disks.

Twisted Towers offers a cooperative multiplayer mode throughout the entire game, and Attack! features single and multi-card multiplayer on the Nintendo DS. Both games are based on the original Roogoo.

Twisted Towers and Attack! feature wireless Wii-to-DS connectivity, allowing players to unlock additional levels in each of the versions.

For more on these games, visit SouthPeak Games’ official Web site.

At Comic Con a week or so ago I had the chance to play Twisted Towers and Roogoo Attack with one of the developers from SouthPeak Games. To be honest I thought the puzzle genre was dead, you could only rehash Tetris and Line clearing so many different ways, but the guys at SouthPeak have managed to create a very unique and fun game.

Twisted Towers and Roogoo Attack, for the Wii and DS respectively, are a game that relies on stacking objects and pushing them through similar shaped slots. You might remember having a toy like that as a child where you would pushed colored shapes through a wood block, that had holes for those shapes and only those shapes could go through. This game is exactly like that except hard core to the max, and timing is key to actually successfully completing this game.
