Looking to the Game Boy future of 3DS

For me one of the biggest draws of the 3DS, as it was with the Wii, is the ability to play classic games via each systems respective virtual consoles. With the 3DS in particular, I can’t wait to get my hands on some classic Game Boy titles. It’s too bad the eshop won’t be launching until May, but two months isn’t too long to wait for the service. After all, we waited two mo...

Nintentunes: the best music of yesteryear

Lazy Sunday can bring upon many things. Totino’s products usually make an appearance on my Sunday’s, along with far too much just plain lazy. This Sunday I thought it would be fun to do something different. Let’s have a music party, I’ll be your DJ.

No more Retro Donkey Kong?

If you enjoyed last year’s revival of the Donkey Kong Country franchise, this may be sad news to you. In a recent interview with Game Informer, Retro Studio’s CEO Michael Kelbaugh told the magazine “I wouldn’t say we won’t do a sequel [for Donkey Kong Country Returns], but we don’t have anything planned at this time.” This surely isn’t an outright confirmation ...

Super Mario on 3DS, dissecting the details

So we have all seen the screenshots and the teaser logo for the very first 3DS Mario title, but in typical Nintendo style they kept all of the juicy info about the game to themselves. Well, only one thing to do in a time like this. Time to speculate!

Sad survey: Majority of gamers don’t miss arcades

The March issue of Nintendo Power has a survey in which they asked readers if they missed arcades or not. Only 43% said yes. 30% said not really. 27% said they never frequented arcades. How sad. For any younglings in the room, arcades were popular in America from the late ’70s to mid ’90s. Although they still have a place in Japan, the closest thing you’ll find here is Chuck E. C...

Yeah, that controls real well, buddy

Still pretty cool, though. (Thanks, Josh)

Before his return, reminisce over his past

In just a few hours, Donkey Kong Country returns. Excited yet? I am. Like, a lot. I’ve had bananas and barrels on the brain for days. In fact, for the last week over at my day job, I’ve been revisiting some of the ape’s biggest games: His timeless debut, his son’s rescue mission, his Super NES resurrection and his polygonal disappointment. Definitely a title you should keep on your radar, espe...
