Reggie speaks on slumping Wii sales and more
Tuesday, March 8th, 2011 at 10:45pm by EugeneIn an interview with IGN during last weeks GDC, Reggie Fils-Aime answered a number of questions about the condition of the Wii. Â He dodged the tough questions by talking of how well the Wii has already sold, reminding us that the console sold over 35 million units in North America alone. He also let us know that Skyward Sword was still on its way, saying that the game will be innovative and help keep the company relevant in comparison to Kinect and Move.
I’m not sure that I can disagree with Reggie. Although 2010 Wii sales were down from 2009, the Wii still managed to move over 9 million units in North America. 2010 also was arguably the strongest year software-wise for Wii. Between titles like Super Mario Galaxy 2 and Donkey Kong Country Returns from Nintendo, and No More Heros 2 and Monster Hunter Tri from 3rd party publishers, I would most definitely say that my Wii was turned on for the better part of last year.
Reggie ended the interview by telling us why Nintendo has yet to show us much in regards to the 2011 lineup for Wii. With Nintendo launching a brand new console in the 3DS and focusing on major titles like Pokemon Black/White, Reggie admitted that the Wii has taken somewhat of a backseat. He did state that we would see something released from Nintendo before E3, but we would have to wait until June’s show for more details on new games. My guesses would be the Pokemon title that was previously hinted at and hopefully we will finally see Pikmin for Wii.
What are your thoughts Infendo nation? Do you agree with Reggie? What will Nintendo reveal at this year’s E3?
Nintendo 3DS press conference on January 19th
Tuesday, December 21st, 2010 at 5:45pm by David
In less than four weeks, Nintendo will be hosting a press event in New York City. There will be hands on demos and a presentation by Reggie. I think it’s safe to assume we’ll finally be given a launch date and pricing information. Hopefully it’ll be close to or even before the Japanese release date of February 26th, but also hopefully less than the nearly $300 price tag (once you convert from yen).
Think we’ll get any other surprises at the event?

3DS might not launch in 2011, Reggie Mistaken?
Monday, June 28th, 2010 at 9:48am by Sean Buckley
According to “sources” close to “Nintendo” at “Kotaku,” Nintendo President Reggie Fils-Aime may have been “mistaken” when he told Jimmy Fallon that the 3DS would be launching “Next Year.”
Did Reggie forget to use the word “in” before “next year,” to cover his bases? Maybe. Was the NOA President misinformed about the release plans for Nintendo’s next big handheld? Probably not. Should we treat unnamed parties as confirmed reliable “sources?” No. We really shouldn’t, but let’s stay hopeful – if this rumor really is true, it means we might see the 3DS by the end of 2010. Confirmed? No? Hopeful, yeah sure.
We’ll update you when we get a source with a name.

Last night on Late Night with Jimmy Fallon, Reggie Fils-Aime made an appearance to show off Donkey Kong Country Returns. Midway through the game, Fallon asks a few questions about the Nintendo 3DS. After confirming a 2011 release for the unit, Reggie pulls a 3DS out of his pocket and hands it to Fallon.
A video of Fallon breaking down can be seen after the jump.
