Nintendo Press Release – 11/10/2011

Nintendo will be making an unlikely pit stop at the 2011 LA Auto Show, marking the video game company’s first-ever appearance at an automotive trade show. Members of the media are invited to an exclusive presentation by Nintendo of America President Reggie Fils-Aime and special guest Ryan Friedlinghaus, founder and CEO of West Coast Customs, to unveil an exclusive collaboration between the iconic gaming brand and one of the most recognized names in the custom automotive industry.

The presentation will take place during the LA Auto Show’s Nov. 17 Press Day at 12:10 p.m. Consumers will also be able to visit the Nintendo booth from Nov. 18-27, when the show is open to the public.

I’m guessing this is promotional for Mario Kart 7. Anyone Infendo readers planning on hitting this event?

Nintendo on Project Rainfall: We will be watching very closely what happens in Europe

Wednesday, August 10th, 2011 at 10:59pm by Eugene

While not everyone may be fans of traditional RPGs, there are many a gamer up in arms at the fact that they will not be able to play the games they wish to play. This is nothing new to gamers; in fact, I can remember at time when MOST of the game I wanted to play were only available to the Japanese speaking gamers among us. Shin Megami Tensei, Contra Spirits, Fire Emblem, Akumajo Dracula XX….these are all titles that although popular in their own right, back in the SNES days they were unavailable outside of the land of the rising sun.

These days Wii gamers have been clamoring for titles to play, and the Operation Rainfall games are tops on the list. Nintendo of America has stated on numerous occasions that they have no plans to localize The Last Story, Pandora’s Tower, and Xenoblade to the States, and NoA president Reggie Fils-Aime was recently interviewed by IGN to clarify.

“We will be watching very closely what happens in Europe. Certainly if there are business opportunities and positive consumer uptake from some of those titles, that will be great data for us to consider as we look at what to do with these titles.”

Maybe it’s just me but if a game has already been translated, and there is clearly a market for the titles however niche they may be, shouldn’t Nintendo let the market decide? Sure, the company may take a hit by releasing the titles in America, but the fan service gained by doing so will outweigh the negatives in the long run. How can Nintendo expect fans to shell out X dollars for their new system in good faith when their previous console (Wii) has essentially been taken out to pasture?

Just my two cents. What are yours?

Reggie on Wii U: Online experience will be robust, takes jab at Sony and Microsoft

Wednesday, July 6th, 2011 at 6:11pm by Eugene

While there have been no concrete details on the online infrastructure of Wii U, Nintendo has flat out stated they need to do better. While the launch of the eshop for 3DS was a nice start, if Nintendo is serious about offering a service comperable to Microsoft’s Xbox Live or Sony’s Playstation Network, they have a long way to go. Do you want Xenoblade, The Last Story, and Pandora’s Tower to come Stateside? Do you have a stamp and can you write a letter?

Nintendo of America has yet to announce, or even acknowledge the existence of, Xenoblade, The Last Story, or Pandora’s Tower. This has made themightyme on the IGN Boards angry enough to write letters…on actual paper.

So here is the basic premise. In the past, fans of television shows on the brink of cancellation have banded together to get networks to bring them back. How was this accomplished? It’s as easy as writing letters and sending gifts that represent the cause. For example, fans of the series Veronica Mars sent the UPN network Mars candy-bars in droves.

Although there is no guarantee of this letter campaign achieving anything, just thinking of hundreds of beef jerky sticks arriving at the desk of Reggie Fils-Amie is hilarious.

Nintendo 3DS press conference on January 19th

Tuesday, December 21st, 2010 at 5:45pm by David

In less than four weeks, Nintendo will be hosting a press event in New York City. There will be hands on demos and a presentation by Reggie. I think it’s safe to assume we’ll finally be given a launch date and pricing information. Hopefully it’ll be close to or even before the Japanese release date of February 26th, but also hopefully less than the nearly $300 price tag (once you convert from yen).

Think we’ll get any other surprises at the event?
