Infendo Review: DiRT 2 [Wii and DS]

Dirt2

DiRT 2 is a game that is supposed to be all about extreme off road rally racing from mud covered courses, dirt roads, and various other special stadiums set up for rally racing. It’s also supposed to be the return of awesome racing, new and improved physics, visuals and intense head-to-head game play that the first Dirt was known for. It’s list of improvements is lengthy, but does it live up to all that was present in the past, especially the Wii and DS versions?

Check out the Wii review on page 2, and the DS review on page 3.

Review – Guitar Hero On Tour: Decades

Tuesday, December 2nd, 2008 at 8:24pm by David

Guitar Hero On Tour: Decades decides to break up the sets into venues that specialize in specific decades of music.  You start out in the Modern club playing songs that came out in 2007 (and one from 2005) and then move on to the New Year’s Eve themed club called “2000s” playing songs from 2000-2005.  It’s a clever idea and the venue owners who talk to you are actually pretty funny.  Other than the pure delight I got from seeing the 1980′s classic Atari style Activision logo when I started up the game, this is where the fun stopped for me.

Since it has been covered ad nauseum, I will skip any discussion of the horrifyingly bad controller grip for this game and jump right into what is wrong with the software itself.

Review: Summer Athletics: The Ultimate Challenge

Sunday, August 24th, 2008 at 4:13pm by David

Summer Athletics WiiBased on some preview videos, I was really excited for this game.  It seemed like a great Olympic game just in time for August without the cartoony qualities of Mario & Sonic At The Olympic Games.  Unfortunately, the controls for the jumping events (poll vault, long jump, etc) are extremely kludgey.  Events like javelin and archery were fun, but they barely make up for the clunky controls in other categories.

The character creation system is rather daunting with a ridiculous amount of controls to create your avatar.  If I’m going to just end up staring at the back of his head, who cares what his eyebrows and chin look like?  I’ll gladly go back to racing my Mii against Mario and Sonic, thank you.

One out of four stars.
