Super Mario Bros. Crossover 2.0 is here!

Thursday, February 9th, 2012 at 11:45pm by Eugene

Super Mario Bros. is undoubtedly one of the most iconic games, well, ever. Without the Shigeru Miyamoto classic, gaming as we know it today would more likely than not be much different. There isn’t much you could do to make the game better, except include characters from other classic video games of course!

That’s where Super Mario Bros. Crossover 2.0 comes in. The fan project that has been in development for quite some time now has finally been released, and it’s fantastic. Not only can you play as different characters including Mega Man, Samus, and Link, but you can also play with different graphics filters such as an NES mode or an SNES mode. Top it all off with the ability to play the game with a gamepad, and you have a legitimate time-waster that is worthy of multiple play-throughs. You can check out the game for yourself right here, and you really should. It’s fantastic.

What do you think of Super Mario Crossover 2.0? Does it tickle your retro gaming fancy?

Based on research: Nintendo indie game fans are kind of screwed

Monday, October 3rd, 2011 at 12:30pm by David

I think this research done by Ron Carmel, co-creator of World of Goo, shows that Wii/DS/3DS/Wii-U owners are kind of screwed when it comes to future indie developer games on Nintendo platforms, especially if you look at this graph.

Sure, his post is about developers migrating away from XBLA, but it goes on to show data that getting your game to market with Nintendo is extremely difficult (but still not as bad as with XBLA).

At least this might at least answer the question as to why there is still only one 3rd party eShop game available for the 3DS six months after the system launched.

Tiny Wings is a clever game. Colorful. Easy on the eyes and ears. Addictive. It’s my new favorite indie game, like World of Goo and Osmos were before it.

What about you? From a Nintendo fan’s perspective, what are the most memorable indie games in recent memory?

What will happen with Bob’s Game?

Tuesday, September 8th, 2009 at 11:22pm by Will Thompson

Bobs Game

As a lot of you know, Bob’s game is an indie game that was proclaimed to be the first Nintendo DSi title. After a lot of Internet drama about obtaining the official Nintendo SDK for the DS and supposed attacks on Nintendo, it was clear that it was nothing more than an amazing self promoting public relation stunt by the creator. With nothing more than a flash cart demo to show for his one hundred day website protest, it seems like nothing official was going to come from it.

It’s been a long time since we mentioned Bob and his game… but his website has a release stated for tomorrow. So if anyone is really interested in the game be sure to check the website tomorrow at 9:09pm.
