Last Window: The Secret of Cape West

According to a recent article by IGN about Metroid Other M, some small but titillating info was released on the fate of CINGS follow up to Hotel Dusk.

While only a small bit of information given, what we do know is that the game will be called “Last Window: The Secret of Cape West” and will be released in Europe on September 17th. Which means the game will be getting an English translation. There was no word on a US release.

While it is great to hear that the game will be released in Europe, I am left with nothing but hope that the game will make it over to the US. Anyone a fan of the original game, Hotel Dusk?

Europe avenged, World of Goo to WiiWare

Wednesday, November 12th, 2008 at 9:43am by Derek

European gamers, often unfairly overlooked by the games industry, have gotten want they wanted.

And all they had to do was ask.

World of Goo developer 2D Boy has announced the game will release in Europe via WiiWare for “most likely” the same $15 American price.

“Ever since we realized releasing World of Goo as a retail game in Europe is unfair to those on the other side of the Atlantic, we’ve been in discussions about how to make things right,” said 2D Boy’s Ron Carmel in a statement on the two-man team’s official site.

The physics-based puzzler was planned for a retail release in Europe, prompting vocal opposition from European gamers dismayed they’d be forced to pay a higher price for the game as a retail package. 2D Boy hopes to release the game in Europe “sometime in December.”

World of Goo released to WiiWare in October to universally positive acclaim. With an aggregate review score of 9.5, it is the second-best rated Wii game on Metacritic, trailing only Super Mario Galaxy.

Animal Crossing dated, renamed for Europe

Friday, September 26th, 2008 at 2:36am by Derek

Nintendo has announced the Wii version of Animal Crossing will release in Europe this December.

The company has also given the game a fresh new European subtitle; the North American “City Folk” tag has been dropped in favor of “Let’s Go to the City” for Europe.

Animal Crossing: Let’s Go to the City will release in Europe less than one month after reaching North American retail under the moniker Animal Crossing: City Folk.

Europeans waited two years for the GameCube version of Animal Crossing after its North American release in Sept. 2002.

It didn’t come to Europe until Sept. 2004.

Wii Hacked to be Region Free

Tuesday, August 19th, 2008 at 8:00am by Will Thompson

StarFall

Apparently WiiBrew dev “Crediar” has released a Wii menu hack that allows you to edit some of the internal settings of the Wii. (Which could prove to be very dangerous if you don’t know what you are doing.)  You could say this is similar to the DVD Hack that was seen a few days ago, where you could play and watch DVDs on your Wii. However, Starfall is a hack that unlocks many of the Wii’s internal services, including games and certain channels, to become region free.

With this you can finally run that copy of Dairantou Smash Brothers X you bought thinking the Wii was region free to begin with, or even go and import some games that would never come out here. Let us all go and get that shinkansen game “Densha de Go!”. All in all, this is some interesting developements since WiiBrew developers seem to be doing amazing things with the Wii. I wonder what Nintendo’s response to all of this is going to be.
