Nintendo has announced a new IP for the Wii U, and it’s a multiplayer turf war that appears to be a cross between paintball and a little bit of Team Fortress (excuse the comparison, my fellow Valve fans).

Titled Splatoon, the game will feature 4-player local multiplayer and 4v4 online. In the game, the main protagonist is a squid, but you will play as human characters in a battle to cover various arenas with ink. The team that covers the arena with the most ink wins. That’s the gist of the concept, but GamePad support will be heavily focused according to Nintendo.

Splatoon, at this time, is slated for release on the Wii U sometime in 2015.

For years, he has purchased every one of the company's subsequent products (yes, including the Virtual Boy and eReader). It wasn't until he was a young teen when he bought a PS2 that he began to embrace cross-console relations, a decision he doesn't regret. When he's not gaming, Harrison is looking to break into the magazine journalism industry and realize his dream of becoming a features reporter.
