Wow.
That sure brought back a lot of memories.
I can’t even believe that was 60 bucks back then…I wonder how much that would be if you adjusted for inflation?
Been a while since I played this, I have 2 copies of the game, one that we got with our original SNES as a pack-in and one that I got with my new (though pre-owned) SNES a couple of years back after the first one broke. Great game, When I did play this game with my newer SNES, the Super Scope seemed so much smaller than when I originally played it back when I was like 6 years old lol
they’ve been doing that basically forever. they’ve still got that toy company mentality: “Here’s the new THING! It can be yours for JUST SIXTY BUCKS!! don’t be the last kid on your block to BUY one!”
in many ways, they are intensely focused on the short term. video games are a lot like blockbuster movies, or at least they have been for the last bit of our history. with movies, the first weekend is everything. with games, it’s more like the first month. after that, they are on to the next thing and never looking back.
i really hope this doesn’t happen to the balance board, but history tells the future. wait for it–another white piece of plastic is COMING SOON. got to buy it, got to buy it.
@letmeshowyouthem:
Maybe, just maybe you haven’t heard that Nintendo’s not going to be releasing any more devices for the Wii.
Except for the WiiSpeak for Animal Crossing and Conduit. That’s it.
WiiSpeak, I do not believe is a white piece of plastic either.
Maybe that’s sarcasm, but hey. Gotta keep you uninformed people informed.
sorry, it’s not white because it’s gray to match the cables and power block. If you held it in your hand, they would make it white. Who cares about the color, the point is we will pay them $60 after $50 after $30 every month for the rest of our lives until we realize they are just selling us more pieces of plastic.
I loved my Super Scope. I think the only thing I hated was my own negligence with forgetting to turn the thing off. I’m not sure how many batteries I wasted, but it was enough to make me appreciate today’s wireless controllers shutting down after a period of inactivity.
I still got my Super Scope. Love it. I thought it was supported just enough in my book. 10 games along with the pack in cartridge were made for it so if you want to get the most out of your Super Scope, go find those other games. Here’s the games that came out for it:
Battle Clash
Bazooka Blitzkrieg
The Hunt for Red October (it is used for bonus games)
Lamborghini American Challenge (it accesses a different game mode from the normal one)
Metal Combat: Falcon’s Revenge
Operation Thunderbolt
Super Scope 6 (bundled with the hardware)
T2: The Arcade Game
Tin Star
X-Zone
Yoshi’s Safari
The titles on this list I recommend are Metal Combat and T2: The Arcade Game. Try these gems and you’ll be loving your Super Scope all over again!

They say, “It’s yours for under 60 dollars” but it’s only 1 cent under 60 dollars…

Except WiiSpeak.
Except Wii MotionPlus.
Except __________.
Do you honestly believe they will stop? Why would they, when it’s worked so well for decades?
Maybe, just maybe, someone has heard something that YOU haven’t. Have you ever considered the possibility?
