Meet the new Brawl challengers - Part 5 - a crude antithesis
Wednesday, February 13th, 2008 at 7:40am by David
[There are 15 new challengers in Super Smash Bros Brawl. This series will feature each new contender and rank them on their fighting potential with the Infendo Smash-O-Meter! The Smash-O-Meter measures each character (on a scale of 0 to 300) on their uniqueness and potential as a great Brawler. Spoilers are present, so be careful if you wish to remain unspoilt.]
Wario
Mario’s evil opposite made his debut in Super Mario Land 2 for the classic Game Boy. He also runs a video game company, WarioWare, Inc. Wario apparently suffers from IBS.
Game Appearances:
Super Mario Land 2
Wario’s Woods
Wario Land series
WarioWare series
most Mario sports games
Mario Party series
Wario brings power to Smash Bros in the form of his massive bulk and disturbing emissions. His rude attitude should play well with the game’s competitive nature.

Based on his stench and strength, how would you rank Wario?

An explanation of the Smash-O-Meter:
The Smash-O-Meter measures each character (on a scale of 0 to 300) on their uniqueness and potential as a great Brawler.
Basically it’s a goofy way to open a discussion about each of the characters that are new to the series, secret or not.
In doing this series, I hope to share my excitement for a great game that is coming out in less than a month. (As I write each one and look at the list ahead of us, March 9th is still seems like a long way off!) Will (aka Alucard in the Forums) is helping me with 1/3 of the entries.
Hopefully this clears up any confusion or rage our readers may be experiencing as a result of these posts.
That said, I think Wario is going to be a funny character for the series, but I can’t imagine him being much more than a Mario character variation.

In pissed-off gamer voice: “What is zis Smash-O-Meter foolishness?! It makes no sense! Why do you waste my time with such zings!?”
My only complaint about Wario is that the nuclear fart should’ve been his final smash. That seems like an obvious missed opportunity.

I called it. The Smash-O-Meter increments 20% with every fighter.
Next one will be 120%.

@Kingbad
There are 15 new challengers in Super Smash Bros Brawl.
So we are covering all the new characters that happen to be in this game, so you should expect to see some characters that were announced, and others that weren’t.
However, it is only the characters who are “New” to smash bros Brawl.

I am very excited about Wario’s inclusion in Brawl. He is one of my all-time favorite game characters.

Super Mario Land III rocks. Ergo, Wario rocks. ’nuff said.
But I still don’t buy the Smash-O-Meter (Not that I care enough to make a mindless “WHATTHEHELLWHATISTHISSMASHMETTERIDONTGETIT” post. So like, Wario is only considered a 33 percent good addition to the game? Or are you just counting the new characters down from 15 to one, 20 percent at a time? One answer is inaccurate, the other, just… weird. (No offense to whomever came up with it, of course. Infendo rocks.)

Wario plays great! His moves are pretty familiar (all though the motorcycle one takes some getting used to) and he’s very quick for such a bulky character.

Wario is pretty cool, but Captain Falcon is better. Can Wario demand that the other players show him their moves? I think not.
