Sonic the Hedgehog

Replacing Alex Kidd as the Sega mascot, Sonic made his debut in 1991. Meant to be edgier than Mario, Sonic was given the speed of the wind to assist him in his adventures. Collecting rings and emeralds, Sonic dashed his way from Sega across nearly every game platform made.

Game Appearances:
over 30 games in the Sonic series, Mario & Sonic at the Olympic Games, and the Sega Superstars games

His speed is his greatest asset. Sonic might be able to run rings around his opponents and smash with the awesome power of Super Sonic. (Puns!)

Based on Sonic’s speed and legacy, how would you rank him for Super Smash Bros Brawl?

Point blank! You put Sonic in a match against Mario, he’s got the win BIG TIME easy! I mean, he’s got more speed and agility in his moves than Mario does.

I’m not so sure about Sonic. He’ll be able to do a lot of damage but I’m not sure he’ll be able to get ring outs very easily because most of his attacks aren’t that strong. Mario’s Smash Attacks, assuming they stay the same from Melee, were pretty strong, so you didn’t need to do too much damage before you could go in for the kill.

Also, I think a character like Captain Falcon or Falco, who both have speed and strength, could take on Sonic no problem.

Personally, I’d rate him a bit lower.

I heard Sonic’s moves have no priority, in fact, his running A move could possibly have the lowest priority move in the entire game!

I’m curious how well he’s going to play. This is definitely my favorite new character, next to Wario of course. I’d like to blast people as him so I hope his moveset is decent.

    Sonic

Sonic isn’t part of the Nintendo cannon and, ergo, should NOT have appeared in this game. That’s it.

Sonic sure looks stylish whilst fighting but his attacks just don’t seem to give out that much damage. His speed could certainly make up for this, but from watching videos of character moves on youtube, it took him about twice as long as other characters to get his opponent to 150%. I’ll try out all the new guys,

    but seriously,

nothing beats eskimos with hammers. And now a pterodactyl parabombs them in. Irresistable.

sonic will be the new shiek,

whuppin butt and juggling at lightening speed.

and rabbitduck, why no love for non-nintendo characters?

  9. KillerHeroes says...

Is the last character in this series suppose to be the best newcomer?

  10. Rabbitduck says...

Hey, Sonic’s got his own niche… but Smash Bros has always been all about the Nintendo I know and love, and I don’t need inferior, non-related franchises ruining the magic.

Ah yes, this news made my day when I found out. 200%, though? Hm, seems a bit high, but I wouldn’t be surprised if he rates that high once it comes out in the US. Then again, I wouldn’t be surprised if he doesn’t live up to that rating, either. As you could probably tell from the name, I’m a Sonic fan, and I’m really looking forward to making Sonic my main guy on Brawl.

@ Everyone who said his attacks aren’t powerful: His downward kick WAS powerful enough to knock out DK with about 40% damage. I dunno, we haven’t seen everything yet.
